In New Jersey, on the day of the 9/11 tragedy, a woman noticed a bunch of guys talking loudly and watching the towers burn in NYC. She felt their actions to be suspicious, and called the NJ state Police. These guys turned out to work for an Israeli-owned moving company. They were arrested and questioned, after which they jumped bail and returned to Israel. The owner of the company also disappeared.
Was anything later learned about who these people were and what they were doing? the suspicion was that they were Israeli intelligence operatives, who were keeping a watch on the many islamic mosques in the area.
I haven’t read anything about this, anybody know more?
Cite for their arrest and bail-jumping?
Seems as though your cite answers your OP.
Yep. Here is the money quote from the cited article:
Gotta love the irony.
So they didn’t jump bail or “disappear.” Aside from that, ralph, what was your question?
What was the “business” that they worked for?
The van they were looking for was marked “Urban Moving Systems”:
"Business records show an Urban Moving Systems with offices on West 50th Street in Manhattan and on West 18th Street in Weehawken. Telephone messages left at the businesses Tuesday evening were not immediately returned.
Business records show the owner as Dominik Suter of Fair Lawn. A woman answering the telephone at Suter’s home acknowledged he owned the company but refused to comment further. She also declined to identify herself.
It was not clear Tuesday whether the van stopped by police is related to Suter’s company."

Some moving company, one of hundreds, if not thousands of New York moving companies operated by Israelis. They pretty much dominate the market.
It’s fairly typical of Israeli kids in their early 20’s, fresh out of the Army, to come to NYC. They work lugging furniture for a few years (often without work permits), make a nice sum of money and go home. I’ve known a few guys who’ve done it - in fact, I’ve hired their services.
