On my android phone it used to have a selection that would at least try to translate a web page from one language into another. Has anyone else used this? It seems to be gone. I wonder why and whether it’s just not considered a valuable tool anymore.
Which browser?
Try the hamburger menu and scroll down to Translate.
It’s the one that looks like a planet on a purple background. i wonder if I can switch.
I don’t know what hamburger is
The little icon to click on that looks like three horizontal lines stacked up like a hamburger-bun/meat/bun. Mine is usually in upper right corner of my ipad screen.

But less space between.
Look at the top of this page you’ll see the little 3 lined thingy. It usually means a drop down menu.
Just click on it.
The parallel lines thing that is a menu that opens to various choices? Yes the choices no longer include translate page.
I typed Google translate in the search bar. Went right to it.
ETA…Gemini says AI gonna be doing it.
When I’m on a page I don’t have a search bar.
(Sorry for using Imgur, I haven’t had any luck with the other options yet)
The “Hamburger” icon can show three stacked lines, or three stacked dots most frequently, normally in the upper right hand corner of the browser window, below the “X” option to close. For my system (Windows 11, Chrome, Dark theme) and please excuse my rough freehand!
After clicking, I show translate in the dropdown, circled roughly in blue:
Different browsers have different appearances, and translate may or may not be available in all browsers.
Now, in Chrome on my Android phone, the stacked dots look the same, but there isn’t the same link for “Translate” BUT…
If you hit the hamburger, click the “gear” icon for settings, and select languages, you can set your preferend language and under Translation settings you can set Chrome to auto translate various languages.
So you use Imgur? Do you know what I have? It’s a planet in purple background. I didn’t know you could switch.
Imgur is the website I was using to share the screen images, but it isn’t working everywhere due to age and privacy restrictions.
I have no idea off the top of my head what that browser is, if you tell us your phone model we might be able to guess. But you could go to the Google Play store and download chrome, though I’d tend to bet it’s at least available on your phone already.
On the more modern Android iterations, if you press and hold the icon for your browser, it’ll pop up options to move it, AND there is an icon ( a circle with a lowercase ‘i’) that you can click to pull up the app info including the name.
It’s Samsung browser.
Not sure what that is.
Is your phone a Samsung?
My phone is a Samsung, but it came with an entire set of Google apps, including Chrome. Can you just change browsers or have you loaded it with bookmarks?
Man, I have 65 bookmarks for restaurants and radio stations.
Yes samsung galaxy I think.
YouTube has a hack for you. It suggests doing it one link at a time, but you can try marking all the links at once.
Thanks! What is a better browser to maybe use?
If you’re reading lots of foreign language maybe you should get an app for that if your phone isn’t supporting Google translate.
Or go on Gemini, they’ll walk your thru it.
