I recorded ‘the conversation’ (Coppola. Hackman) a while back and i just got round to watching it. Unfortunately, the tape ran out before the film finished. I don’t recall it entirely, but Harry Caul realizes he’s been set up. He goes to the person who hired him, who implies that they’ll be watching him. Harry returns to his apartment and tears out the walls and floorboards. The final, unforgettable shot shows him in the center of the bare, torn-up room, playing his saxophone.
