What have I learned?

My guest status is expiring in a few days.
In that time I have posted what would be huge flame wars, if it wasn’t for the fact that I was the only one arguing my side, due largely on my part of not seeing the other side in conversations. I have also had the joke I put forth on the table taken and been expanded on more than I had hoped, and in other cases had people run with idea in ways I never wanted to happen, and saw people having fun with them anyway. I have really enjoyed posting puns and seeing when someone’s misspelling can be turned into comedic gold. I have also leaned a lot.

You can lead a horse to water, but you can not make them drink.
If you post a link to site explaining an issue, chances are, someone will post who either didn’t spend long enough reading the article. Or who didn’t read it at all. It is pointless to get mad, since it is a law of nature that this will happen.

People who post here are generally not inflexible jerks who will only stick to their beliefs, and who will not change their minds. They will agree to see the outside, except in when you are not willing to do the same, which is my problem.

Addendum: Any attempt to point out that there open mindedness is not the foundation that has taken their group this far will be ignored. Any claim that they are cherry picking will be ignored. Well, at least with many of the people I have encountered, not all, really. It just feels like everyone.

I will post more latter on this latter. I may not renew, due to the fact I need to spend my energy looking for a job, and that I can not keep from posting hostile comments whenever a happy, peaceful view of religious history is brought up.

A pity, as you are tolerably amusing company. Stiil who knows what the future may hold.
Keep the SDMB bookmarked.

I ain’t learned shit.

I’ll miss you, Scott_plaid. I rather liked your posts and your wit.

Agreed…many guests come and go, and I never even notice. You, OTOH, brought something to the table.

Thank you for saying that, but I will still be here, just not as often, and as a ghooooooost, I mean a lurker. I might sign up again a month down the road, but only if things change financially for me. For right now, I have not seen movies, bought books, and I have canceled my cable, but that ok, because there is so much fan fiction out there that I can print from the university printers for free, and use in lue (sp?) of books, and I will still be able to lurk here.

P.S. You know what would be nice? If I could type a word, then put a strike-through through it, like have the word “ghost” have a line through it, and then have the word “lurker” next to it. It would make for some effective sarcasm. I tried to do it in word, but it didn’t transfer.

You started some very interesting threads, particularly your Cafe Society stuff. However, as you yourself said, you do seem to have quite a chip on your shoulder regarding Christianity, or perhaps the whole Judeo-Christian-Muslim group. Eh, I liked the topics you came up with when it didn’t have to do with religion. You may know this already, but there’s a thread where people will pay for your membership fee. That is, if this is purely financially motivated. If you have other reasons, of course, far be it from me to make you stay on.

 Wahhh! There is? As a guest, I don’t have access to the search bar.(lower right-hand pull up menu), . Anyone want to point me in the direction of the thread?

It’s currently on the first page of ATMB (About This Message Board).

Thank you greatly twickster. Thanks to JSexton, and yourself, I am now a member. So I guess this is not good-bye, but hello.

“I don’t know why you say goodbye, I say hello.”

Sorry, this is all I have to contribute as I try to avoid religious threads…good luck

And we all learned that preview is your friend:

lieu

Well, Scott_plaid, it looks like you’re officially in.

OK, people, grease up the goat!

lieu, thank you.

I do not want to know what a wizard like Ponder Stibbons is going to do with a goat.

P.S. I have started a new thread called:
What fiction characters started out completely different than how they are now

Oh, it’s not what we do with the goat…it’s what we make you do with the goat.

Here’s your straw. Don’t worry, your eyes will soon adjust to the darkness, and then you can get started. We’ll know when the initation is over when the bleating reaches crescendo levels.

I’ve got the squii-iiiid!

Just close your eyes, Scott_plaid, & try to find your Happy Place.

Glad to help – though of course, I was just looking for the opportunity to wheel out the trebuchet…

Don’t worry, scott, chances are *you’ll never remember * what happened to you.

Welcome aboard!
