I learnt that while spouting catchphrases (eg 1920’s, dogs, grapes, etc) does indicate a degree of social conformity and intimate knowledge of the group psyche - it still doesn’t stop you from sounding like a complete and utter prat.

This is so very true. Whenever I think I have it bad, I think of that guy who got his wedding ring stuck up his nose, or that doper who had to encounter cafeteria-line fartage and I realize, hey, my life is pretty durn good.

I have learned to drink a glass of water with every meal.
I have learned that trying to argue with nasty, self-righteous teenagers on an internet message boards is a complete waste of time. (However, I still forget that one once every so often.)
