I enjoyed it. It is an urban, commuter school, so there is a certain lack of school spirit you’d see at a UT or A&M. But the real fans are diehards.
Most people come, go to classes, and then go back home to their families in the suburbs (Houston being so spread out).
I lived on or near campus the whole time and really took advantage of the opportunities to be had. I was on the Student Senate my senior year, which I imagine would have been more difficult elsewhere (I did have to beat out three other candidates… but I rawk!).
I joined a fraternity, as that is one of the best ways to be involved in a school that only has about 1500 of its 35,000 students living on campus (or sorority if you are a girl!).
And I had a LOT of beer.
Best of luck. College is a great experience. I think you’ll have a great time there.
