Together with eight friends, I drove to Washington D.C. this Sunday and took part in the March for Women’s Lives. We arrived at the Metro at 11:00, only to wait in line for an hour to obtain tickets. It was 12:30 before I arrived at the Mall and joined the main demonstration, which was stupendous. There were thousands upon thousands of people, all chanting and singing and waving banners, and a helicopter that swooped down and buzzed us a few times.
After listening to several speakers and hearing the Gay & Lesbian Choir, we marched down past the White House. It was just incredible to be there in that flood of humanity, with people from every corner of the nation and every race and creed, all united in their common goal. There were several barricades of Pro-Lifers holding pictures of aborted fetuses and shouting their slogans (one called me a pervert) but it was all worth it. I’m so glad I got to take part in this incredible event.
And that’s what I did this weekend.
