Alcohol and Calculus Don’t Mix
Never Drink and Derive
I have a simple security frame not so much for security as for the fact that back when I used to get regular car washes, they kept deforming my license plate.
Spiderman (post 27) explained why.

Most of us want miscreants off the road. But these devices can do more than identify unregistered vehicles. Possible stolen vehicle, DUI owner, suspended license owner, etc. As Spiderman said, law enforcement and others can just drive around neighborhoods, scanning plates. Next thing I know, an officer is knocking on my front door. No thanks.

I want something protecting them, don’t like the dealer advertising on them, and am too cheap to buy something.
So I usually leave the dealer ones on but black out all the lettering with a sharpie.
I am not sure why anyone would care, but since you asked, whatever came with the rig is what is on it.
The only reason I would waste time removing it is if I find it offensive, or if I want to keep it for some reason. I had one with my unusual last name as a dealership. One should support the family. I used it for four rigs over ten years, my cousin has that one now. She asked if she could have it. We removed it them & there.
If someone gave me one like GESancMan’s I would install it on my daily driver. I would probably not buy it for myself.
I have a University of Illinois frame on my rear plate. The orange clashes with the red of my car though.
