What if Bush is caught

in a Monica Lewinsky type scandal? How would Fox news react? How would conservatives react?

They’d call for tax cuts.

Also a reduction or elimination of Inheritance Taxes

They’d react in the way the Democrats have taught them. “What’s the big deal?”, “This is a witch hunt!”, “There is a vast left-wing conspiracy.”

Moved to IMHO.

Let me ask you something:

Do you really want Bush to be caught doing something wrong? Do you really want him impeached? I only ask because Cheney is next in line, followed by Dennis Hastert and Ted “Pork Barrel” Stevens. It gets even better further down the line.

You roll the dice at your own risk.

President Cheney. Now I will have nightmares when I finally fall asleep tonight. Thanks a lot Sgt.

Would Bushes Admin improve if Cheney was gone? I think it might, but I can’t figure the ramifications and who the next puppetmaster would be.

They’d blame it on Clinton.

I’m sure the outcomes would get sorta ugly, but I’d be lying if I said I wouldn’t like to see it happen. Just to see what the hipocrisy would be like.

I’m not so sure it is IF he gets caught. He might already have been. It will just take a little time for this to hit the mainstream press.

I’d love for him to resign in disgrace, however the words “President Cheney” send shivers down my spine.

Define “caught”.

Bush I was “caught” having a long term relationship with his government paid aide Jennifer Fitzgerald which was not reported in the mainstream media during the time from when he was the US envoy to China thru his presidency. That’s at least 18 years of tax-subsidized “getting it on.” He also had many other short-term affairs.

Bob Dole had an affair while still married to his first wife. The media knew about this but did not point this out during his 1996 presidential run even though his opponent’s past was considered fair game.

In short, it depends on what party you belong to. Bush II is a Republican. He can get away with whatever he wants.

Getting caught is not the problem, it is lying about it. That is why Clinton got in so much deep doodoo.

“Caught” in the sense of “accused”, or “caught” in the sense of “we found a blue dress with his semen on it”?

IOW - cite?

Shodan

In general, I think most people only care about this stuff when it can be used as political ammo. Republicans might get it a little worse now, what with being the party of the religious right, and hypocracy from going after Clinton. But that might be offset by Republicans just being better at politics and getting away with stuff.

Bush I, while VP, on the witness stand under oath denied involvement in Iran-Contra, which was flatly contradicted by fellow Reagan appointees including George Schultz. Never impeached or prosecuted, in fact soon elected PotUS.

There is also considerable dispute about whether Clinton actually lied.

Again, it determines what party does it.

Bullshit. You think if Clinton had admitted to the affair the right would have backed off? I don’t think so, and I don’t see how anybody who remembers the red-hot fever pitch the right ran at in those days could think so.

You gotta be kidding me. If Bush were caught–heck, if Bush, Cheyney and Condi were taped, live in a three way–no mud would stick.

All they gotta do is put their hands up, say, “Jesus, I am one poor, sad sinner”–the religious right would embrace them MORE fervently than before…

I’m not so sure about this. I think some of his religious support would peel off.

It has been discussed that Rove feels the last minute release of Bush’s DWI in 2000 caused a decent percentage of faith voters to stay home.

Whatever shred of credibility Monica hung on to would be lost forever.

This is not the time to play the blame game. There’ll be plenty of time for that after 2008. What we have to do now is recover from this blowjob and save lives. Only then can we take the time to point fingers. (or other appendages)
