There’s no way they’d even think of it. Many of their users are Trump supporters and would go apeshit crazy if it happened. Keep in mind, too, Trump has a lot of regulatory power – a lot – at his disposal. Social media companies don’t control the infrastructure they need to function. The telecoms own the hard stuff. The government regulates it.
Beyond that naked threat of getting bullied into submission, it would just be bad business. It’s always bad business when companies try to wade into politics. It’s one thing to say “We’re against banning refugees and wish you’d reconsider, Mr President.” It’s quite another to wage an all out political campaign against him and alienating his supporters.
They wouldn’t just lose business; they’d be crushed. They’d lose consumers by the millions almost immediately, and they’d lose billions of investment dollars almost as quickly. They would be over and done with in a matter of months.
You really think that millions of people will delete their entire online social life just because Facebook and Twitter have a spat with the President? I think you’re underestimating the shallowness of the American public. How will they tell everyone they hate Facebook if they’re not on Facebook?
Yes, Trump supporters will go apeshit crazy, this is as intended. Facebook would be, in my view completely immune to any repercussions, and Twitter may suffer; however as far as I know, Twitter is for sale, being worth “only” 12B. Whatever whale will buy it, will also be impervious.
And the later one opposes to a would-be tyrant, the more difficult it is. Today it is clear that Bannon is completely controlling Trump.

I hope they do it. 
I want The Donald to have multiple channels to use to make a fool of himself in public. I want the whole world to see what a buffoon he is. I think he should get on Pinterest (wouldn’t that be a hoot!) and Instagram, too. I want him to let it all hang out so everyone can watch first hand his descent into ineffectuality and ultimately insanity. I certainly don’t want his stupidity cleaned up and edited by his minions (assuming any of them have the intelligence/education to do so, which I doubt).
Frankly, I’d like to see Steve Bannon get on Twitter and make us all privy to his dark thoughts. But unlike his boss (or IS Trump his boss?), he’s too savvy for that.
