I think it’s best not to discuss it. For example, I have a friend who, on several occasions, has mentioned how much he makes (A LOT). Note that I did not ask - he told. Anyway after finding out that this person is rolling in the dough from his job, and that he made a killing selling his house, and that he basically has no debt, etc., it started to kind of irk me how cheap he is. Like always mentioning how he buys all his clothes at TJ Maxx, and just being a stingy penny-pincher in general.
So it kind of irked me when he brags about how easy his job is, and that he doesn’t really have to do much, whilst making like 5 times what I made, while I was working my ass off (and I have more education that he does). And it hurt when I have to struggle to pay for things we do together while it’s just all petty pocket change to him, etc.
I would have been better off never knowing. So no, I don’t think this should be openly discussed.
