I’ve had a sore throat for about 2-3 weeks now. The doctor did a test and says it’s not a bacteria culture. I am taking antihestimines if it’s an allergy, but no effect yet. I don’t smoke, drink or sleep with my mouth open. No other symptoms… only visible sign is a few enlarged taste-buds on the back of my tongue… any ideas? It’s driving me nuts.
consider stress relief as a possible cure.
possibly, although I took a week OFF from work when it started. thanks for the reply.
It could be a virus. That wouldn’t show up on a test for bacteria. It could even be fungal, but any decent doctor should recognise oral thrush & be able to treat it.
And if it is a virus or fungus, since producing histamines is a natural way of your body protecting itself, and is part of your immune system, then taking antihistamines is probably extending the duration of the infection (if I get a cold in the summer, I have to stop taking my hayfever meds or it drags on for ages). Or did you only start taking them in the last few days? If so, give them a shot, but not for more than a week, as if it isn’t an allergy you’ll be hindering your own defences.
Did you go to the doctor at the start of the infection or after the 2-3 weeks? If it was at the start, why not go back to your doctor & say what you’ve told us. See what s/he recommends.
