What is causing this 'cloud' on my tv? Any solutions?

Hey guys I have another burning question I need help with.

My tv has this cloud like image on it and I have no idea what caused it.
It is a rather old set, probably 4-5 years old I think?
It works well but just this annoying cloud obscuring the screen. It gets worse if the background image is black.

When it is turned off, u don’t get to see it.

Just for my curiosity, what is happening to the tv?

Do you have a model number for that TV?

That can be a heat problem if it’s an LED model.

Is it a cloud during the day and a pillar of fire at night? Maybe because it’s Passover.

Looks like a malfunction of the backlight.

Areal problems like this are frequently caused by someone/thing pressing against the screen at some point. Even if the damage wasn’t very visible at the time, it sometimes worsens.

(It causes problems with the backlight sometimes, ergo voltaire’s comment.)

If this is the case, the solution is a new TV.

Maybe someone wiped it really hard with a cloth? That pretty much wrecked mine.
