50" Samsung Plasma, probably about 6 years old or so.
A few months ago I noticed what I thought was an image burned in. It was a light pink rectangle kind of centered in the upper left quadrant of the TV. I tried to burn it back out by leaving all (or mostly) white screens paused for 10 minutes here, 30 minutes there etc… But since the only time I notice it is when the screen is displaying very light colors I didn’t want to risk doing more damage. Then I noticed something, it moves. Is defiantly not burned in. If you look at this image. You can see it. It’s above the Progressive logo extending from the right side to about the first “S” or so. It’s hard to see, but looking at your monitor at different angles may reveal it. It’s pretty clear on my TV. Now, if you look at this image, you can still see it, but it stops right when it gets to her hair.
That’s how it always is, it moves around. It’s typically the same height, and I’m fairly sure it always starts at the far left side and extends to where ever there is something of a very different color. In this commercial, as she moved her head, the pink block would move with it, always just touching the edge of her hair.
I figured it was my TiVo, but it does it for DVDs as well. Which means it could either be my receiver, the TV itself (my guess) or the input. At some point I have to watch something on HD which will eliminate everything but the input. If it’s still there, I can safely assume it’s the TV.
Anyways, has anyone seen this before? It’s driving me nuts (kind of, it doesn’t really bother me that much)
