I notice now and then people on these boards using the word “Og” in phrases where “God” usually would be, as in “I hope to Og”.
Is this a god from some other religion, or from literature? Or is it used by atheists?
A poster a couple of years past kept saying “Og” instead of “God”, basically. I’m sure someone will be around shortly to give links to those threads. 
Actually, it was a poster who kept typing “og God” instead of “of God” in a meltdown in the Pit. The Dopers lept on this like white on rice. Can’t remember who, or where, or when. Someone should be around with more specifics.

When I was in high school one of my history teachers had a small plush mammoth named Og that she used as a hall pass. I don’t think that’s what everyone’s referencing, though.

We need to come with some sort of codeword for us to search for when looking for these threads. Since we have two of them archived here, what’s something that is both (a) memorable and (b) somehow associated with og-ness?
There was another thread called “Tenets of Og.” Two of those three words are too short to search for, and I don’t have much luck with the search function. If I go through further attempts, I’ll probably break my mouse again. When I combine my own incompetence with uncooperative technology, I often end up getting very angry. I try to avoid that. :smack:

Well, it’s not Og-specific… but one good key word is “Watershed”, especially if you search just in IMHO or just for titles. There’s a thread called Watershed moments in SDMB history that’s got links to just about all kinds of stuff. The Og links are at the bottom of page 2.
