Does anyone know what Renee Russo was drinking in the Thomas Crowne Affair? It has been bugging me since I first saw the film. She is recovering from a hangover and is seen pouring this gloopy green substance into a cup. When another actor says, “What is that?”, she replies, “Don’t ask”. Is this just a theatrical prop or has anyone seen anything like this that is actually on the market? If so, what on earth is it?
I’m not sure but it was probally wheatgrass juice. It matches your description and it’s used for hangovers. I tried it once when I was visiting southern California. It has a real kick to it and tastes alot like you might imagine grass juice would.
I forgot to mention, you can find it at health food stores, but it’s better to have it fresh pressed at cafe.
While I imagine cainxinth is right about the identity of the drink, another green gunge health drink is spirulina which is a type of algae if I’m not mistaken. You mix this powder to make a frothy green drink.
Not very tasty in my opinion.
Check out Odwalla’s Superfood, seen here. Made with both Wheatgrass and Spirulina, it looks horrible but tastes like apples and bananas. Wonderfully good stuff!

The lumpy stuff reminds me of Buttermilk.
But, buttermilk isn’t green… Unless you find it in the back of a fridge.
I wonder if it’s mentioned in the Novel. Usually, wordsmiths have a little more time and space to flesh out a character… and, unless that drink is a movie makers addition, it probably will yeild s’more.
PS: The movie maker may have CHANGED it. It may have been Jack Daniels in the book.
PPS: The book may be based on the screenplay, so the writer may be as clueless as we are.
PPPS: Nothing could be as “fleshed out” as Rene Russo was in TTCA.
Well, it was a remake of a Steve McQueen movie, so it was probably added to the new movie.
