What is the best way to cook lobster?

My family has tradionally boiled enough water (with salt) in a huge pot to coverall the lobster being cooked.

My ex preferred to steam them, and put a small amount of water in a pot with a lid, and didnt cook them as long.

My question: How do YOU cook them, and for how long?

Toss them in a pot of boiling water for a few minutes was always my prefered way of cooking up the critters…

Big pot, lots of salted water at a rolling boil, plunge 'em in head first, put the lid back on, bring it back to a boil, then reduce the heat to a simmer.

  1. Boil salted water in a big pot.

  2. Hold the lobster over the pot.

  3. Say, “MWAhahahahahaha! Into the pot of BOILING WATER!!!”

  4. Start the motion into the pot, but pull back.

  5. Say, “Just kidding! I wouldn’t throw you into a bot of boiling water!”

  6. Yell, “YES I WOULD!” and start the plunge again… but pull back.

  7. Laugh and say, “Gotcha! tee hee

  8. Repeat steps 4 through 7: “INTO THE POT!” “No…” “Yes!” “Hahahaha!” “Aaaaaaaaah!”

  9. When this becomes boring, say, “Okay, I’m hungry now,” and just throw the sucker in.

(For variety, you may want to have some Zatarian’s Crab Boil in the pot too.)
