My family has tradionally boiled enough water (with salt) in a huge pot to coverall the lobster being cooked.
My ex preferred to steam them, and put a small amount of water in a pot with a lid, and didnt cook them as long.
My question: How do YOU cook them, and for how long?
Toss them in a pot of boiling water for a few minutes was always my prefered way of cooking up the critters…
Big pot, lots of salted water at a rolling boil, plunge 'em in head first, put the lid back on, bring it back to a boil, then reduce the heat to a simmer.
-
Boil salted water in a big pot.
-
Hold the lobster over the pot.
-
Say, “MWAhahahahahaha! Into the pot of BOILING WATER!!!”
-
Start the motion into the pot, but pull back.
-
Say, “Just kidding! I wouldn’t throw you into a bot of boiling water!”
-
Yell, “YES I WOULD!” and start the plunge again… but pull back.
-
Laugh and say, “Gotcha! tee hee”
-
Repeat steps 4 through 7: “INTO THE POT!” “No…” “Yes!” “Hahahaha!” “Aaaaaaaaah!”
-
When this becomes boring, say, “Okay, I’m hungry now,” and just throw the sucker in.
(For variety, you may want to have some Zatarian’s Crab Boil in the pot too.)
