What is the better strategy for a bar?

Which is the better strategy for opening a bar, bring in girls guys will follow or bring in guys girls will follow.

Im pretty certain the existence of “ladies night” makes may case slam dunk.

Duh, forgot to say I voted bring the chicks, dudes will follow.

Slow brain day, sorry:smack:

I think we’ve seen enough here.

I think it is the opposite would work better and have more long lasting effects. Girls attract all kinds of guys, if they get too much negative attention they stop showing up. If you attract the right kind of guys the right kind of girls tend to show up.

This is the most obvious question ever.

Stuff the place with attractive guys and you’ll end up with a gay bar. Sure some straight girls who want to avoid getting hit on might show up, but that won’t be your primary clientele.

Put up TVs and have good bar food. Make money during sports events. Don’t worry about the attractiveness of your clientele.

If you can swing it legally (if illegally just don’t be obvious about it) the best ploy is smoking. Smokers will travel miles for a good bar and an active crowd and adding a cigar night or aspect is not a bad idea either. When Ohio went draconian and PA not-so I invested in a place a few miles inside the border and the pay-out was way beyond my wildest imagination.

By attractive I was not implying so much physical specimens as much as I meant people with decent incomes and jobs, that’s pretty attractive in today’s world. I wasn’t thinking of a beautiful people bar.

I voted “neither”.

The bar I spend way too much time at has a great selection of excellent beers. Beer-knowledgeable men and women travel a distance to enjoy their offerings. The place is usually busy.

I tend to agree with that, my son is like you, he and his buddies will travel some distance for good beer. Is there a fair share of single women who hang out in these same bars? By fair share I mean if a guy is a regular he has pretty good odds of meeting someone now and then that he might date.

Yes, on any given day there are roughly equal numbers of men and women during happy hour. Drafts are half priced 5-7 pm, and the bargain seems to draw women who like beer. Go in at noon and it will be hardcore drinkers, mostly male.

I’m in a long term relationship, but if I were not I’d be dating beer babes.

One night I was by myself, drinking beer, when a woman sat next to me and ordered a glass of wine. I did a double take. I go through boxes of wine quicker at home than the bar does. It’s a beer bar. The wine drinker nursed her glass, then struck up a conversation with me. Turns out she was “working”. I told her I wasn’t interested, and further I didn’t think she’d find anyone in the bar looking for “a date”. She thanked me for the info and moved on.

Also neither. I hang where the selection is good and the price is right along with my friends. I haven’t been to a meat-market pick-up bar in a good twenty years.

And round here the band you’ve booked will make a difference in your bar’s revenue as well.
