What is the meaning of the song from the Homeworld Soundtrack

Hi,

Anyone knows the meaning of the song “Angus Dei” from the Homeworld (PC game) soundtrack? Any translation as to what it says actually?

Thanks.

“Angus is God.” Obviously an AC/DC fan.

Nonono, “Angus is God” would be “Deus est Angus”… so it’s either “Angus of God” or “God Anguses”. Neither of which make sense, really… unless the first is implicating Angus as being Jesus. Which I suppose is just as good as being God, really.

That, of course, assuming it’s Latin. Or assuming Angus is actually a word that isn’t a proper noun… Unfortunately, my Latin Dictionary doesn’t have any entry for “Angus”; the closest is “anguste” through “angustus”, all of which mean “narrow” and “close” in various forms.

So I suppose that isn’t really much help. I can’t find the lyrics with a quick Googling, though… Does anyone have a link or a CD booklet with 'em? Someone with a better knowledge of Latin than I might be able to do better.

I believe it’s Agnus Dei, the lamb of God, set to Samuel Barber’s Adagio for Strings. I’m not sure about the exact content of the words, but it’s mostly hallelujahs, god-is-greats and amens.

Alex.

Adagio for Strings again? That bloody song is everywhere.
