The Seven Deadly Sins and the Seven Heavenly Virtues (faith, hope, charity, fortitude, justice, temperance, prudence) were both written by St Thomas Aquinas, an italian catholic of noble birth who lived in the 13th century AD.
Though some of them are referenced in the bible, neither the sins or virtues are found in these groupings of seven.
And to think, I never thought to use that as a pickup line.
Using tree-climbing badgers to pick up dates would be the most interesting thing I know, if it weren’t for this little gem carved into the wall of an Allegan county jail cell:
If you’re trapped in a submerged car and can’t break through the window - wait until the water fills your car (you are now holding your breath) and then you can open the door.
Or you could just avoid high water, but where’s the fun in that?
Hey, if we’re talking survival tips here, I read in one of those Worst Case Scenarios books that if you fall off a waterfall you should squeeze your buttocks so that when you break the surface, the water doesn’t shoot up your neither region.
From a list of known famous masons, I calculated that at least %37.209 of all US presidents were masons, undoubtedly much higher than the general population…
A hapax legomenon is a word that has only one recorded instance of use
The Anglo-Saxons had one word for a beer drinking party: beorscipe, pronounced bay-or-ship-a, with accent on the first syllable
If you’re desperate, you can use a standard, old-fashioned pen cap to peel an orange
For most people of an average height, from the nose to the end of one fully extended arm with fingers out is about a yard – nice for a rough measurement of fabric if you sew
Cooking oil removes stickers as well as Goo-Gone
If your toenails are curved down towards the skin and form a cap over your toes, you should cut them in an arc, following the general line of the quick. The standard advice for cutting toenails is to cut them straight across. With curved toenails a straight cut will more often than not cause ingrown toenail problems.
Alex Trebek is the Canadian-born host of numerous USA-based game shows, including High Rollers, The Wizard of Odds, and (currently) Jeopardy!. Here is a photographic retrospective of the man’s career.
The ruins of a Roman temple in Ba’albek, Lebanon, rest upon a foundation consisting of three massive stones. Each stone is 63 feet long by 13 feet high by 10 feet thick, and weighs in at approximately 1,200 tons. To date, no one has come up with a feasible explanation for how these stones were moved from the quarry site, half a mile away. Stranger still is an ever larger stone that remained at the same quarry after being cut. Thought by many to be the single largest mass of hewn stone in the world, the megalith measures 68 feet long by 14 feet high by 14 feet thick. The technology required to move an object of such incredible size and weight did not exist in the modern world until NASA constructed the giant crawler used for transporting the Saturn V rocket to its launch pad.
Very bizzarro post-colonial fact, NZ has more pipe bands then Scotland. I was piped out of the church at my wedding. No it wasn’t my idea and yes my ears are still ringing
Another bagpipe fact is that they were banned from all grounds during the world cup rugby. I would have been complaining if I were Scottish (and thanking whoever decided that if I wasn’t).
the japanese word for ones own father “chichi” is also a slang term for “tits” or at least so i am told which leaves space for anybody to tell me im wrong

Blonde Did you get that from an episode of “Top Gear”? There was an episode of that about a fortnight ago where the poor guy trying it out nearly crapped his pants. Hehheh.
