I don’t rewatch films too many times.
I have only seen a few films 4-5 times:
Casablanca
LOTR:FOTR
Princess Mononoke
His Girl Friday
It’s a Wonderful Life
Third Man

Movies I have watched the most are movies that cheer me up when I’m depressed. Those are (in no particular order):
Pride and Prejudice (the Colin Firth Version of course)
JWhile you Were Sleeping
The Replacements (it’s really quite funny and it stars Keanu Reeves)
Dirty Dancing
Dunno how many times, but lots and lots:
The Princess Bride
Its a Wonderful Life
Miracle on 34th St. (the original)
I don’t think I’ve ever seen any movie more than 3 times in a theatre. Counting video/TV, though …
More than 10 times: Wizard of Oz, It’s a Wonderful Life, and maybe A Christmas Story.
5 to 10 times (not counting listening to DVD commentaries): Goldfinger, Dr. No, Psycho, The Birds, North by Northwest, Casablanca, The Maltese Falcon, King Kong, The Adventures of Robin Hood (Flynn, not Costner), The Ten Commandments, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Star Wars, Fantasia, 2001, Citizen Kane, Duck Soup, The Sting, Annie Hall, Local Hero, Groundhog Day, O Brother Where Art Thou, Fellowship of the Ring.
2-5 times: Too many to count!
Hahahah, I bet you had HBO around 1985. I swear that the only two movies they used to play were “Grease 2” and “F/X”.
I haven’t been keeping track of how many times I watch a movie, but I’ve watched every movie I own multiple times. Lately, I’ve been watching Titus with Anthony Hopkins over and over. I also just got my special edition FOTR, so that’s been in my DVD player constantly. The Usual Suspects and Snatch are the other most recent movies I’ve been obsessing over.

I’ve seen Withnail & I at least 30 times. It just never, ever, gets boring
I have seen Moulin Rouge an amazing amount of times. Whenever it’s on TV (on MOMAX a lot and HBO now), I watch it. I have both DVDs* and at one point I was watching it every day…not so much anymore, but still. I just love that movie.
Also, A Knight’s Tale. I don’t know why. I don’t like it any more than any other movie, really, but it used to be on HBO a LOT and whenever it was, someone would flip to it. So I ended up seeing it a lot. I think I can quote dialogue.
*the first one, and then the Baz Luhrmann Red Curtain Trilogy set
Seen too many times to count:
Rebecca
The Ghost and Mrs. Muir
Thunderheart
The Ninth Gate
Office Space
**The Screaming Skull ** (MST3Ked)
As a kid I had an unspoken contest with my brother to see who could see Help the most times. I think I beat him at 11 back then, though he has no doubt caught up and surpassed me.
Movies I’ve watched at least 25+ times each:
Jaws
Star Wars
Tombstone
LOTR: FOTR
Groundhog Day
So, I Married an Axe Murderer
LA Story
Tremors
I don’t really keep count, but I think the movies I have watched the most are:
Office Space
Undercover Blues
Moulin Rouge
Die Hard
Lethal Weapon
Mary Poppins
Mulan
Lilo & Stitch
Beauty and the Beach
Footloose
and…
Strangely enough, Annie–because when my sisters were little, they watched Annie at least one a day, every day, for about a month…and guess who had to keep an eye one them.
I’ve seen THE WIZARD OF OZ probably forty or fifty times, and GONE WITH THE WIND maybe thirty times (ten or so of those times in cinemas for GWTW). But I can’t begin to count the number of times I’ve seen Doris Day’s CALAMITY JANE. Not by choice, although it’s a pleasant enough movie. It was my ex-cohab’s favorite film and he popped it in the VCR at least once a week.
Sometimes he would fast-forward through the musical numbers. I’d ask why. He’d say, with complete sincerity, “To get back to the story.” (I’m sure that any of you who have seen this film will find that statement odd. Oh, well. It takes all kinds to make a world.)
Return of the Jedi by a long shot – probably twelve times or so, though only once since adolescence.
I’ve seen The Graduate and Pulp Fiction at least six times each, and I may have seen Branagh’s Much Ado About Nothing more times than that, but I haven’t really kept count.
Natural Born Killers at least 40 times
The Doors (I was in a windy spiritual phase and totally id’d with Mojo’s angst) who knows how often? twice/thrice daily for months?
JFK 15 At least…geez guess who my fave director is
Alien Trilogy…1&2 at least 10 times
Citizen Kane 10
Apocalypse now 10
I frankly don’t remember.
There are very very few movies that I want to watch again.
Most of the times if I’m watching a movie again, it’s on TV/cable.
That said, I suppose the gist of your question is to know what movies do I find that can last multiple viewings.
in no particular order :
Bangkok Hilton, Australian miniseries
Where Eagles Dare, entertaining war movie.
Run Lola Run, fun German movie
Dr. Strangelove, Kubrick’s only satire.
Sound of Music. although usually on cable.
House of Cards, To Play the King, Final Cut, brilliant British series with a Machievelli feel to it.
I can’t remember others and the rest are Hindi movies.
The Bounty–not just for the cast and the more accurate version of the events than had been done previously–but because of my nautical obsessions. Probably over 20 times.
Ladyhawke, 15 times or so.
Ed Wood, a dozen times or more.
Pulp Fiction , 10 times or so.
Ferris Bueller’s Day Off , at least a dozen times.
Those are the top five.
Jungle book. As a kid, I used to watch it, then rewind it, then rewatch it. I probably watched it about a hundred times.
Monty Pythons Life of Brian about 40 times.
Well, like others I’ve seen The Princess Bride more times that I could think of. I’d guess 40-50 ish.
I work at a single-screen movie theater that’s been showing Chicago since Dec. 27th. I have worked all but a meager few of those days, and there’s nothing to do between shows but sit in the lobby where you can hear the entire film. Plus I’m the manager and I have to go in and check things out in the auditorium. And I had seen it a couple of times before we had even gotten it. So, my count is that I’ve seen/heard this film 110 times in just over a month. It’s just driving me a little nuts, is all.
