What movie have you seen the most times?

There’s a thread right now about “Big Trouble in Little China” and it occurred to me that it is possible that I have seen this particular movie more than any other movie. It was always on some cable channel for like two years when I was a kid, and my Dad and I loved that movie.

I’m not 100 percent on this estimate; I haven’t been counting. Certainly though it’s a strong candidate. Others would include

MOVIES I ALWAYS WATCH WITH MY BUD SCOTT WHEN WE GET TOGETHER:
Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan
The Thing
Raiders of the Lost Ark
Happy Gilmore

JUST MY FAVOURITE MOVIE:
Fargo

KID MOVIES I WATCHED A LOT WITH MY DAUGHTER:
WALL-E
Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs
Lilo & Stitch

FAVOURITE CHRISTMAS MOVIE WATCHED EVERY YEAR:
Die Hard
What movie do you think you have watched the most times?

And the Great Debate is?

Rocky Horror Picture Show …

Casablanca
Outlaw Josey Wales
Little Big Man
The Quiet Man
The Court Jester

A Pocket Full of Miracles. It’s a weird choice for a favorite movie, something I saw and enjoyed when I was young so I’ve watched it again and again. It’s not a great movie for a lot of reasons, but it includes the first major performance by Peter Falk, the very first appearance in a movie by Ann-Margret, a fabulous over the top performance from Bette Davis, and a host of character actors hamming it up. It’s thick with little jokes and schtick from those great character actors so each time I watch it I notice something new or re-notice something I’ve seen before.

I eagerly await someone telling me that I’m wrong and this is not the movie I’ve seen the most times.

The Shining
MASH
Bullet
Full Metal Jacket

Not films but also
Law and Order Criminal Intent
Moonlighting

Probably Fifth Element.

Or maybe A Christmas Story if we’re talking the whole movie start to finish.

The original Star Wars. I think I’ve seen it six times.

I think it has to be Sideways. I like the movie a lot, but I love the commentary track with Paul Giamatti and Thomas Haden Church. I wish they would make another movie together just so I could listen to another commentary track featuring their humorous repartee.

I think I have seen The American President close to 80 times.

I have the ticket stubs to prove I saw the original Star Wars 26 times during its first run in the theaters. Who knows how many times since?

Six? Six times?

I have multiple films with well over 100 views and a handful with over 200. Not sure I have any that go past the 300 mark, tho, at least not feature length films.

The Shawshank Redemption
Apollo 13
The Hunt for Red October

I can quote large portions of dialogue from memory.

I don’t know which movie I’ve seen the most times. Movies I’ve seen a LOT:

King Kong (1933)

**A Man for All Seasons

Star Wars** (1977) and, of course

**The Empire Strikes Back

Return of the Jedi

Young Frankenstein

Frankenstein** (1931)

Dracula (1931)

**Son of Kong

Mighty Joe Young

Forbidden Planet

**

All the Sean Connery James Bond movies, plus On Her Majesty’s Secret Service and For Your Eyes Only

the Day the Earth Stood Still (original 1951 version)

The Thing (1951 and 1982 versions)

**Bride of Frankenstein

Beast from 20,000 Fathoms

Seventh Voyage of Sinbad

The Guns of Navarone

Fantasia

**

Difficult to say exactly. The top five are probably, in no particular order:

A Christmas Story
Goodfellas
Ghostbusters (1984)
Major League
The Princess Bride

Groundhog Day. I rarely watch a movie more than once, But I’ve probably seen this movie 3 or 4 times.

The Godfather: I’ve seen it so many times and still love it. I stop whenever it’s on TV too. Friggin’ love it.

2001: A Space Odyssey, probably 50 times.
After that Duck Soup or Dr. Strangelove. I’d much rather watch new movies than the same ones over and over.

Absolutely. If I’m flipping channels and that movie shows up, I put down the remote immediately.

Probably a pretty close tie between Alien, Aliens, or the first two terminator movies. Probably about 2 dozen times each.

Spinal Tap

LOTR (trilogy)

Monty Python and the Search for the Holy Grail
