What is the name for this Decorating theme?

Is there a general term for the colors, attitude, and atmosphere given off by casinos, carivals, gaming and other like fun and lesiure?

Got any pictures, or examples of the scheme you mentioned?

Just in general.

some things in common however:

Kinda more floruescent (SP) or more ‘dusty’ colors than usual. Almost like the color of gemstones… Kinda lavish, but it doesn’t know that it is lavish (not over doing it).

Also a sense of ‘night life’ is also present in the general term I am looking for.

It could be that it can’t simply be termed. Hence why I am asking.

I think you have done pretty well in post 3! I have always used “glitzy”, defined as “pretentiously or tastelessly showy”

I’d say “tacky” or “Hotel Lobby” when describing gold painted walls, lots of mirrors, polished brass, etc. The Vietnamese have a word for it: Cải lương, named after the colorful, flashy, glittery, extravagant and often over-acted opera. Although I’m told that modern Cải lương isn’t nearly as tacky looking as it was in days gone by.

gaudy?

garish?

Kitschy?

(do I win a prize if I guess it right?)

“Vegas” or “Vegas-y” (or maybe “old-school Vegas” for the more archaic sort of kitsch), glitzy, showy, or bling-bling?
