What is the name for this kind of cell phone charge connector?

I’m trying to find the name of the wide type of connector for charging and other purposes for an old style flip cell phone. It’s approximately 1/2 inch wide.

Little help?

Can you post a photo of the cell phone’s port that you need a connector for?

At one time it seemed like every manufacturer had a different connector, and few chargers were interchangeable. It didn’t seem like they had a standard, so I wonder if they even had specific names.

Working on it. Thanks.

Or you could tell us the make and model of the cell phone.

These are of the connector rather than the port.

He’s got two of them, different models. One is a Samsung SGH-a237.

Probably the best way to go. Those photos could be anything.

These chargers are so idiosyncratic that they can only be identified by the manufacturer. Beyond that, they are more or less doomed to haunt garage sells for eternity.

Here’s the charger plus a battery on Ebay for $2.79.

Thanks, but what we’re looking for is a very long cable (~8-10 feet) with the right connector for the phone on one end and a standard USB connector on the other (or whatever else we can find that’s not an AC adapter). The port is not only for charging but also for other devices while not charging. But without knowing the name of the connector I can’t search for such a thing.

Here’s a shot of the port, as requested…

Port on Samsung phone

This could be it: Samsung M300. Here’s an ad for what I think we want…

Mobile phone charger connector with Micro USB F for G600

Whaddyathink?

Might it be easier to just buy another (brand) phone? It isn’t likely that this phone is going to be unique in anyway.

At my company, we absolutely had internal names for the various connectors we used, before it changed to things like “mini USB” and “micro USB”.

A quick search on Google shows me that at least some of those names are known to the general public.

I’m now confident that this is a Samsung M300/M310 connector. I’ve found several of these data cables on Amazon, but they’re all either only 3 feet or the length is not given.

I want to thank all those who contributed!

Is using a USB extension on the other end a possibility?

You’re not going to find 8-10 foot cables. Certainly not with the Samsung connector on one end. That’s a fool’s errand.

You *can *find USB cables with one male & one female ordinary USB 2.0 connector. The longest of those I’ve ever seen was 4 feet. You can string however many of those you want together with one final 3-ish foot Samsung cable.

But …

That’ll work for charging a dumb-ish phone from a dumb-ish USB power source. A long multi-unit cable like that will probably not work to transmit data nor to get the best out of a smart-ish phone trying to pull extra power from a smart-ish charger. So it may or may not work depending on your mission.
