What is the name of this movie and what was it all about.

A mid/late 1960’s British flick. During that time they put out a number of bizaar movies (i.e. The Magic Christian). This one I saw first on a late-late TV movie back in 1977 (I was 13 years old). The second time was in the early 90’s on a weekend matinee TV movie (I actually only caught part of it.

It involved some young ladies who kidnap a young man and keep him in this transparant dome house, where they play mind games and flirt with him (Probably pushing the limit for the 60’s a bit). Pro wrestlers and others were involved in some evil plot. The end was a wild scene with the pro wrestlers and others fighting and the play house collapsing.

Does this sound familiar to anyone?

Not the slightest bit, but I’d love to find it. My daughter is interested in the movies and TV shows parodied in the Austin Powers movies, and something like that is right up her alley.

I don’t know about the wrestlers, but the description puts me in mind of Zardoz (1973) with Sean Connery and Charlotte Rampling. There are barbarians (the wrestlers?) living separately from the non-barbarians (who own the glass dome?). There is some sort of war and a big mask flying all over the place. And a lot of music by Beethoven.

Now if you like strange British flicks, try Morgan! (1966) - it’s about a guy who thinks he is a gorilla.

No. It was not a barbarian movie and no familiar names were in it. The wresters were wrestlers in the movie and it took place in the 60’s. The clear dome house was not that big, about the size of a good sized house. The other characters were ordinary people, the girls were plenty cute, but not in historical costumes. It was a strange, mildly erotic (for that genre) comedy somewhat in the vein of The Magic Christian, although I believe it is an older movie

Anyone remember The Bedsitting Room?

I saw it once. Liked it. But for the life of me, I can’t remember what it was about!

The Bed-Sitting Room (1969), directed by Richard Lester:
“Set in post-nuclear-holocaust England, where a handful of bizarre characters struggle on with their lives in the ruins, amongst endless heaps of ash, piles of broken crockery and brick, muddy plains, and heaps of dentures and old boots. Patriotically singing “God Save Mrs. Etheyl Shroake, Long Live Mrs. Etheyl Shroake”, they wander through this surrealistic landscape, forever being warned by the police to “keep moving”, and prone to the occasional mutation into a parrot, cupboard, or even, yes, a bed sitting room with “No Wops” scrawled in the grime on it’s windows. In particular, this story revolves around the odd “love story” of a girl who lives with her parents in one compartment of a London Underground train, the commuter in the next compartment, and the doctor they meet after returning above ground in search of a nurse for the heavily pregnant girl.”

Still don’t recognize the movie summarized in the first post.

Johnny L.A. - According to Leonard Maltin’s Movie Guide - The Bed-Sitting Room (1969) Moderately successful black-comedy look at distorted, devastated England three years after nuclear war. A few funny bits, great cast, but film doesn’t click. Marty Feldman makes his film debut in a breif bit. D- Richard Lester, Rita Tushingham, Ralph Richardson, Peter Cook , Dudley Moore, Harry Secombe, Arthur Lowe, Roy Kinnear, Spike Milligan, Michael Horden, Mona Washbourne.

OK. I am still hoping for someone who has seen this movie. But I am willing to take a bone. Any good places to search or ask?

I posted your question on the IMDB message board.

The two responses I got were “Zardoz,” and “The Lickerish Quartet.”

You’ve already said it’s not “Zardoz,” and from what I’ve seen written about the other–well, it’s probably just a little too erotic to be shown on TV. Not X-rated, just erotic.
