I agree that Chelsea Clinton seems to be a very good person with a strong moral fiber but this sentiment just drives me nuts. So the Bush twins liked to party a little in college and got caught having alcohol while they were underage. Big fucking deal. Did you party in college? Did you drink before you were 21? Of course you did, almost everybody does. The Bush twins have since grown up to be perfectly normal adults but the fact is they were perfectly normal college students as well. Granted they have a higher burden on them since they were in the public eye and their actions reflected poorly on their father but that’s a far cry from the hedonism and hell raising I see some people level against them. Besides, if W was my dad I’d drink myself into a stupor!

Trying to use a fake ID while a Secret Service Agent is standing right there is indeed Darwin level stupid. Even so, it’s far from scandalous and that people that hate their dad continue to bring this incident up as some sort of “look how awful his kids are” are only showing their own bias. That it was in Texas is incidental - college students everywhere do exactly the same thing. Since then I’ve never seen a single reference to drunken behavior nor references to drug abuse about them. If there were even a hint of impropriety you know as well as I that it would be public knowledge.
I remember several newspaper accounts that Hillary was at the hospital almost non-stop after Bill’s heart attack and bypass. She was a Senator then.
At least that’s one point when they did come together for a crises.
I read the Clinton Diaries a couple years ago. Fred Petrovsky visited the Clinton White House regularly to record Clinton’s presidential diary. Fred often saw them in unguarded moments while he set up his equipment and waited to start. He describes a very normal family life. Hillary often joked and teased Bill. Fred also describes some of the tension after the Monica affair. The book is a very worthwhile read.
My only concern with the book is it is based on Fred’s memories & notes of the diary taping. He gave Bill the original tape after each session. Fred would jot down notes immediately afterward and that’s what the book is based on. The tapes are in Bills possession and have not been released (yet).
I’m no fan of either of them, but it seems as if they both have a deep love, admiration, and respect for each other. They recognize the marriage for what it is: not a traditional side-by-side until death, and Bill gets to whore around, but their bond is enough to keep the relationship together in a way that they both are happy with.
And we all know how deeply committed to the truth Bill Clinton is.

Eh, they were really nothing more than regular college kids. Except for the time one of them attended a “Naked Yalie” party and was astonished that someone recognized her and told a reporter.
I know other kids don’t have to deal with that, but being the President’s daughter means going to a nudist party and dancing buckass naked should be on the NO list.
That’s the first time I’ve heard of that.

Since it requires speculation, this thread wasn’t really appropriate for General Questions in the first place. It would have been better for IMHO. But considering it’s become such a train wreck, I’m just going to close it instead of inflicting it on the IMHO mods.
