Actually what are these two 80s scifi films?
The first one involves a futuristic gladitorial competition between humans and aliens. There is some kind of handicapping technology to even the playing field, but in the final scene the bad guy deactivates it briefly.
The other is a live action film where involving mechs. In the final scene the hero starts up a giant humanoid mech and faces off against a scorpian mech.

Actually the scorpion mech was in the sequel, Robot Wars.
The first one is “Arena”. I loved it as a kid. If I remember correctly the actor who played Gul Dukat on Deep Space Nine played the villain.
Basic plot- Takes places on a space station with lots of aliens. Interspecies fights are a big time sport. Even though there is the handicap ray that makes the species equal in terms of strength, a human hasn’t been a viable contender ever/not in awhile. The movie follows a human training and competing.
