I was looking for this poster I had seen before of James Dean and Marilyn Monroe, and this product page at Walmart.com has it. There is a second thumbnail on the page below the picture of the actual poster. WTF???
The second image, which appears to be a blurry pornographic image, didn’t load as a thumbnail for me. I had to click a text box. Could be my connection.
Probably just part of Walmart’s roll out plan to compete with Amazon
Well, I was gonna inform Walmart but there doesn’t seem to be anyway to contact them, really. The feedback link just takes you to some other company. So I guess I won’t let them know. I’m probably the only person who has looked at that particular product.
Reverse image search brings up a few hits. It would appear the woman in the picture is English glamour model Keeley Hazell and the picture may be from a calendar of hers. Here’s a better resolution image of the same picture where the name “Keeley” can be seen [probably NSFW, if you work in the 1950s].
A few months ago, I had a Walmart advert show up on my Facebook page. The items they were trying to sell me were: crotchless underwear for men, and something that looked like a cock-ring.
To make thing even more strange, I have NEVER Googled or browsed ANY of those things ever. So it wasn’t like Walmart got the idea to sell me these things from my browsing history.
The best I can think of is I was once looking for a foam O-ring for my game controller. So maybe their algorithm picked up on that. But even still, who the heck knew Walmart sells sex toys?!
I have no idea of the ins and outs of the logistics, but I’d say they work like Amazon in that they allow third party sellers. Every time I’m looking for some really hard to find item, it shows up on Walmart’s site and says “Ships and Sold by [not Walmart]”.
As for the image, what’s interesting is that not only is the picture incorrect, but both the thumbnail and the actual picture are both the thumbnail which is why the large one is so blurry. My WAG is that some how the link for the actual image is pointing to the thumbnail for the other image…or something like that, depending on how that specific image was intended to be uploaded.
OTOH, someone could have done it on purpose.
If you really want to let them know and the feedback button takes you to a 3rd party website, use the contact us button or PM them on facebook. If they have live chat, you could probably use that as well.
