What IS this song??

OK- every day on the Musak at work, I hear this song that I love. I would like for my husband to learn the lyrics and guitar and I want to learn the sax part.

It starts out with a soft, jazzy sax solo (very catchy), then the singing starts. Male vocalist, sounds like Mark Knopfler to me. I can’t make the words out well on my crappy work speakers, but I definately caught this:

I don’t know how it happened

But all I can do

and you *****(??)

It’s seriously driving me insane. Help me!

…It’s quite a sight!

I got out the sax, and it’s going quite well. My husband was surprised that I could play it from ear. It’s a really pretty piece.
