The Godfather.
mmm
(kudos to all posters so far for answering with a single answer as requested and not a laundry list of favorite movies)
Probably Spartacus.
At least this week.
The Karate Kid
In many respects it’s a very conventional kung-fu movie (weakling comes to town, gets beat up by local bullies, makes friends with a local master who trains him, he fights and eventually defeats all of his enemies who cheat and fight dishonorably; this is the exact plot of literally thousands of classic kung-fu movies), but it’s also the story of a touching cross-cultural/generational friendship, and a fish-out-of-water, coming-of-age teen romance. It checks a lot of boxes. Plus, it’s just awesome.
A Clockwork Orange. It’s funny, it’s frightening, it’s beautiful.
12 Monkeys
Singin’ in the Rain
I’m another one for The Godfather. Many listed so far are perfect 10s for me.
You might be able to figure out mine from my user name.
I’ll volunteer. I don’t have a clue. Please elaborate.
I have to admit that my taste runs to older horror and I am a major fan of the “lost world” type films and stop-motion. This is all to explain that for me it’s
DINOSAURUS!
At least right now. Last winter I would have probably said “Cannibal: The Musical”
I could go with that, or maybe Beat The Devil. Bogart, Jennifer Jones, Gina Lollobrigida, Robert Morley and Peter Lorre get up to some serious madcap antics…
1776
Casablanca. Or maybe The Blues Brothers.
