What is your car internet go-to for fast and easy cheering up?

The day is crappy, people have been irritating and/or useless, your favorite coffee cup broke and you have to go in to work. You get in the car and say “Oh, great God of Music, please play…?”
You are looking for something not too complicated that will cheer you up and maybe even invoke a bit of singing along.
What do you ask Marvin the Marvelous Magical Music Machine to play?

SiriusXM Jam Band. There’s sometimes way more noodling than singing but that does the trick

“Closer to Home (I’m Your Captain)” by Grand Funk [Railroad]

I dare you to not sing along with that repeating phrase at the end.

It would be funny to have that refrain on a loop, and play it for an unsuspecting passenger, just to see how long it takes to notice. Same with the refrain of Hey Jude.

Brilliant!

Verrrrrrrrrrry nice! I love the graphics. Makes you want to holler:

“Jane, stop this crazy thing!”

It is impossible not to smile while listening to Fats Domino.

Dungeon Crawler Carl, or The Bobiverse.

For music?

I don’t listen to music, but sometimes I need cheering up. That’s how I do it.

Probably one of the WFMU live streams. I’m partial do Sheena’s Jungle Room, but I’ll also listen to Give the Drummer Radio or the main WFMU live stream. Even if it’s music I’m not particularly crazy about, it will almost always be something that is new to me, so that makes me happy.

If by sing you mean stab myself repeatedly until it stops, yes. I won’t even listen to the beginning. It makes Hey Jude seem like Dylan.

Now that I can laugh at. After I killed you!

It’s like jet age ambient. But the graphics should do more. The sun should set by the end and that damn ct should move,

I really hope that nobody that might be driving to or from work is enjoying those graphics.

SiriusXM Yacht Rock Radio. Big bonus cheering-up points if one of the first songs played is Toto’s “Hold the Line,” and/or Bobby Caldwell’s “What You Won’t Do For Love.”

Maybe…

But someone made the video. They could have made it a bit more better.

Amazon Music has more or less decided on my behalf that, no matter what song I select to start my stream, it will inevitably be followed by “Roots Radical” by Rancid.

Since I usually listen to music while riding the bus home from work, this feels oddly appropriate.

Do you take the 60, out of Downtown Campbell? And is Ben Zanotto riding with you?

No, I take the 50 bus into downtown Olympia, WA (but that’s a whole other can of worms).
