I just paid up for another two years yesterday. Gotta keep my status quo charter.
My first-ever thread here was intended to be a one-off, but it was during the pay-to-post era and I really needed the advice (or so I thought), so IIRC I paid for a membership. Then I left the boards for several years, and returned as a guest, no bribes required to post my drivel.
Was a guest for a long time, until Quasi paid for a year membership for me (Jesus, how I miss that guy). Now I’m back to being a guest.
I’ve been kicking around the idea of buying a membership, but I’m not sure what good it would do. I really wish I had stuck with it back in 2007 so I could have that cool Charter Member status, but oh well.
I don’t post enough to warrant a membership.
I paid when it first went to paid status then realized I hardly read/posted anymore. I didn’t post for probably a good 6 years or so and now I am wandering back in.
Can a guest see a member’s post count and join date?
There were a number of years I didn’t post at all, but I still paid to keep my Charter status, or someone else paid to help me out.
Yeah, I think that’s some kind of weird side effect of being former Mods.
Where is the “Lurker” status? On and off paid member but still read the board every week. So many good people here, can’t stay away.

It is May. I just did it early.
I had a custom title for a while - I screwed up while paying my renewal. I’m sure that’s not what happened to you.

Well, it’s more tolerable than the OTHER side effects…the night terrors, the shakes, the constant cold sweat and uncontrollable vomiting…
How’s that different than for current mods?
Or guests for that matter?
