What is your favorite appliance in your home?

My coffee maker. I don’t drink coffee but that thing will makes the best pitcher of iced tea you ever did drink! And I drink a LOT of tea.

Also my 197O’s-something blender. The pitcher is made of actual (thick) glass. And it’s got enough amperage in it to turn steel ball bearings into liquified metal. When purchased, this was considered to be the base model and the damn thing still works!

I don’t know if this counts: my Roister speakers, and my TEAC amplifier.

Some years back, my inlaws gave us one of those “Set it and forget it” rotisseries that were on some infomercial. My inner reaction was “Swell, another appliance from them.” We already had gotten a stand mixer, a hand blender, and a salad shooter - the mixer died, and the blender and shooter went to goodwill because they were a mess to use and they were mostly useless.

Anyway, the rotisserie sat for some years because we had space to stash it and ignore it. I was about to send it to goodwill the last time we moved (10 years ago) when my husband suggested we try it.

O.M.G.!!! It was instant love! It was messy to clean, but so worth it! Chicken, turkey, roasts - so easy and soooooooooo good! It now has its own corner on the counter and it gets used frequently. I weep to think of the years I didn’t use it - all those good meals I missed out on!! I don’t miss the shooter or the blender, but boy howdy, I’d miss my rotisserie if it died…

I’m going to go with my Espresso machine. So much good coffee, so easy to work when hungover.

Food processor.

that’s right, it filets it chops it dices slices
never stops lasts a lifetime mows your lawn
and it mows your lawn and it picks up the kids from school
it gets rid of unwanted facial hair
it gets rid of embarrassing age spots
it delivers a pizza and it lengthens and it strengthens
and it finds that slipper that’s been at large under the chaise lounge for several weeks
and it plays a mean Rhythm Master

It’s a fight between my Zojirushi rice cooker and my KitchenAid stand mixer. By all rights the rice cooker should win out, since I use that 3-4 times a week and I use the mixer 2-3 times a month… but there’s just something about the raw power of the mixer, a desire that manifests itself as “power tools!!” for most men but for me screams “power kitchen tools!!” It’s not a rational choice, but love never is, is it?

My Zojirushi thermal cooker. I can throw in several different vegetables and they will be perfectly cooked in an hour with no blending of flavors. Until I open it, they’ll stay hot, which allows me a lot of flexibility with dinner time. Whenever the meat is done, the rest of the meal is ready to serve.

The big backup generator outside. It’s noisy as hell and perhaps not an appliance, but it keeps my second favorite appliance ( the refrigerator ) running when the power goes out.

Mine is the electric kettle since it boils water for me with the push of a button every day for my tea. My husband, without hesitation, says the dishwasher is his favourite.

Panasonic 50" plasma. Golf, football, hockey… all in glorious hi-def.

Microwave.

My eleven year old. I pay her a small sum plus room, board, chocolate, kisses, books, math classes and access to cats. In turn she does chores. She’ll also keep you warm on a cold day, let you pick out adorable dresses for her and let you play with her fabulous hair. Plus you get bragging rights when she brings home yet another lovely little report card.

:stuck_out_tongue:

Really? 33 posts and no one has mentioned a bedroom appliance? Well I’ll not be the first. I’ll go with the Keurig coffee maker. It has really opened up my options for coffee.

Does my bidet count? Because I love my bidet. I’m talking hearts coming out when I look at it like Sally when she sees Linus love.

My coffee maker, by a mile! I’d rather do dishes and laundry the old fashioned way if I could still have a coffee maker that brews a pot, and has it ready when I wake up.

I can’t pick - both of these are my favorite posts in this thread so far.

Crock pot.

Stew, pulled pork, braised lamb shank etc. all while I am busy at work.

Air conditioner. Followed closely by Washing machine, dryer and coffee maker. Or maybe the fridge should be squeezed in there somewhere.

Dishwasher, how I love thee. I never appreciated you until I had to live without you, and I wanted to kill myself.

As someone who loves to cook, I’m very careful about what appliances I buy. So I basically like them all about equally, as they do the job for which they are designed. But without a dishwasher, all those toys turn into things that churn out mounds of dishes to be cleaned.
