What hometown suds tickles your tastebuds the most, folks?
Living in Beervania(Portland), I have so freakin’ many to choose from, but my current favorite is Gigantic Brewing Company’s Most Most Premium Russian Imperial Stout. The stuff is Evilgood.
How far does local extend? I’m also in Portland, and right now I’m partial to Sticky Hands from Block 15 in Corvallis, and Notorious triple IPA from Boneyard in Bend (when I can find it).
For truly local, Breakside’s Feel Good Flagship IPA is my favorite every-day beer. Their limited-release Fitzcarraldo is my current favorite sipping beer: a blend of their amber, barrel-aged stout, and Belgian Quad aged 18 months in bourbon barrels.
I’m in DC and right now my favorite is Heavy Seas, brewed in Baltimore. I particularly like their IPA.
We are spoiled, aren’t we?
Living in west Michigan, I have a lot of options, but I really enjoy New Holland’s Mad Hatter.
Great Basin Brewing “Icky” IPA.
I’ve been a fan of Goose Island’s 312 since they introduced it. Unfortunately, it’s not a locally brewed beer anymore.
I still like 312 but I haven’t found a local beer that’s my favorite yet. I may have to work harder on this.
De-Icer by 3 Guys and a Beer’d is brewed mere miles away; Yuengling Lager is in heavy rotation, but they’re more regional than local.
Living in Moncton, New Brunswick, my current favourite is Dark Passage (an oatmeal stout) by Celtic Knot Brewing. He is a small garage brewer whose brews can be found in 7 bars throughout the region and nowhere else. If you are ever passing through New Brunswick and have a chance, I highly recommend trying a pint.
I’m afraid that’s just not possible. Perhaps you’d better just ship me a growler or two.
About as local as I can get, Alley Kat Brewing Scona Gold. The Aprikat is really good as a summer beer.
Shiner Prickly Pear.

I like citrusy beers
New Orleans - Abita Purple Haze
I was in Portland in February and we randomly ended up at Gigantic while waiting for someone at Reed. I can attest to the Evilgoodness of the Stout. I bought the t-shirt, spent more on merchandise than on the beer.
Local to me is right down the street, and I’m currently drinking Saison of the Westerm Ghats at Aeronaut Brewing Co.
Lawson’s Sip of Sunshine. (These days Lawson’s brews this down at Two Roads in CT in order to meet capacity).
I’m not always an IPA lover, but I love this IPA. If you took the sun, warmth, and green of summer and packaged it into beer form, it would be this.
So many in Denver.
Hogshead cask porters are delicious. There is a nano brewery here called Wits End that has a delicious coffee stout. Cerebral Brewing’s Known Entities is an English Brown ale that might be the best thing I’ve ever put in my mouth. Comrade Brewery has a Velvet 'Murican Stout that is delish, and Diebolt’s Sunnyside Wheat is a great afternoon patio beer.
So many breweries, so little time.
St Louis …
**Barrel Aged Abraxas ** for a special occasion.
and Shlafly Tasmanian IPA or Four Hands Contact High for daily drinker…
Least favorite…anything by AB/InBev
Their Loose Cannon is probably what I’d pick if I could only drink one beer the rest of my life. For really local, my favorite is 3 Stars Ebony and Ivory. If you haven’t checked it out, madmonk, shame on you. You could probably walk there.
Sorry, I honestly don’t think it would last from the pub to the post office. You’ll just have to find a way up.
Saint Paul – Summit Great Northern Porter.
A few years ago, I would have said “mine,” but all my gear’s in storage in Berkeley.
