What is your favorite locally brewed beer?

Tuckahoe Brewing - Steelmantown Porter

Cape May Brewing - Cape May IPA and Honey Porter

Sent you a PM with my contact info.

Depending on how you define local, I’m also a fan of Devil’s Backbone, brewed in Virginia. I particularly like their Vienna Lager.

My favorite local beer changes frequently. Thankfully, there are a lot of good breweries in my area. Lately I’ve been a big fan of Two Brothers (Warrenville, Ill.) Wobble IPA.

Have you tried Hoodoo by Boom Island yet? Easily my favorite beer in the Cities.

Also, I finally got a taste of Todd the Axe Man by Surly. That beer alone might turn me to IPAs.

Less hoppy and/or strong tasting than their usual beer lineup though. Very mild and light and refreshing. It even won some beer competitions! It was like the lighter, less heavy beer in their lineup.

My favourite is probably something from Rebellion, depending on what I’m in the mood for. Based on what some of my friends have been saying, my current favourite is probably the Double Black IPA, but I haven’t tasted it yet.

Stretching “local” slightly, Nokomis is a great little brewery too.

Santan Brewing Co. Mr Pineapple is pretty good. It sounds wretched but it’s very nice to drink in the shower on a hot day. It’s in a can rather than a bottle so I don’t worry about dropping it and cutting my feet.

There’s a much smaller brewery stumbling distance from home called Beer Research Institute. They don’t bottle but they generally have 8-10 house brewed beers on tap and their food is very good. They’ll serve 4 samples per person at a time so between me and the Mrs we can try everything pretty quickly and they always have something worth getting a few pints of. And hey, stumbling distance, so why not?

Boulevard Brewing Company, Bob’s '47 Oktoberfest.

No, I figured that you probably were talking about American pale ales or IPAs or something of that nature, as opposed to the general category of “ale,” which covers a lot of stylistic ground.

Local to my region (Western NY), I’ll always try whatever Southern Tier puts out. I love their Choklat stout. I am not a fan of pumpkin beers, but people who are swear by their Pumking ale. They seem to have stopped making a pilsner that I enjoyed a lot – although I hear pils are going to be the next big wave in craft beer, so maybe they will introduce another one.

Cleveland, OH - Great Lakes Brewery Dortmunder Gold andEdmund Fitzgerald Porter (A tie). Honorable mention to Thirsty Dog’s 12 Dogs of Christmas Ale. There’s no lack of good local beer here!

That Edmund Fitzgerald Porter is, I’m pretty sure, the best thing to ever happen to my life.

If local is statewide, I’d put Westbrook in Charleston up against anybody. Too many good ones to count but I especially like their White Thai, IPA, and One Claw Rye.

Also Holy City’s Pluff Mud Porter is awesome. Beer that eats like a meal.

If local means metro area, our brewery industry is in its infancy but I quite like River Rat in general and especially their Hazelnut Brown Ale.

The last time I wandered into a beer tasting at the local liquor store it was Oskar Blues - I mentioned how much I like their Old Chub and they handed me Old Chub lip balm.

Just had the Aeronaut Cherry Berliner Weiss last night, super yummy.

Here in Charlotte, NC the local beer scene is exploding. Hard to pick a favorite but Birdsong’s Turtles on Teradactyls is awesome when it’s available.

So many in the Seattle/Kitsap area
but if I had to pick one it would be my go to beer which is Georgetowns Mannys Pale Ale but there are lots of other contenders

Kitsap side:

7 Seas: Ballz Deep Double IPA or their Rude Parrot Single IPA or their British Pale Ale
Valholl: Brew Bitch IPA
Sound: Dubbel Entrendre Belgian Style Dubbel or Monks Indiscretion Belgian Ale
Silver City: Fat Woody Scotch Ale or the Whoop Pass Double IPA
Seattle side:

Georgetown: Manny Pale Ale or the Bodhizafa or the Chopper Red
Mack n Jack: African Amber or Cascadian Dark Ale
Holy Mountain: Kiln & Cone Pale Ale or The Goat Saison
Pike’s: Pike Kilt Lifter Scotch Ale
Schooner Exact: 3 grid IPA or Hoppy Holiday Winter Ale

and there are so many
Seattle like Portland has so many great breweries it is tough to pick
I am just amazed I don’t weigh 300 pounds!

(512)Pecan Porter. Unfortunately draft only.

I need to rescind my endorsement of Devil’s Backbone brewery as today it was announced that it has been purchased by Anheuser-Busch. Resistance is futile.
