Your cotton pickin’ right Rebus, Marmite butties and a pint of cold Carling Black Label, as Duff Man would say “Oh yeah”
There’s a thing, why hasn’t some bright spark started marketing a beer named Duff

There are so many exotic choices! But at first sight of the title to this thread I immediately thought of the premier hamburger I had as a child in a little gas station grill on top of the hill outside Prattville AL. There’s no way to give adequate description beyond the pure memory of something so special it never has been repeated in all the years I have been trying to find the match for it.
The bun was probably one of the out-of-the-bag buns but toasted lightly on the inside faces only. Outside still had the soft bun texture. Lathered on the bun was a blend of mayo and mustard. Then a meat patty that was at least 1/4" thick and cooked to well past medium on one of those grills that let the grease accumulate and flavor the meat. Next came a slice of tomato at least as thick as the meat, followed by an onion slice about that same size. Topped with dill pickles to cover and then a leaf of lettuce. The whole thing had to be 3" thick on a bad night, more like 4" if the cook was feeling sporty.
Couple that with one of those Cokes from back then that would burn your sinuses and a big stack of fries, and there was no way to stop until every flake was gone.
Then a big dish of lime sherbet to top it all off.
Since those days there have been good sandwiches with all sorts of ingredients. But the favorite in the world has to be that old timey burger.
I said sandwich not banquet;)
They did!! It was made in Australia by Razorback Beverages. They had to stop producting it due to a pending lawsuit from the creators of the Simpsons…
But, you’re in luck! Here is a complete unopen case of Duff Beer for auction…
Bit pricey what?..Oh yeah!!
Pimento cheese (layered on thickly) on honey wheatberry bread, with fresh vine-ripened (so to speak) maters, onions, and some “sauce” (like Worcestershire or olive oil–it varies).
or a mufalata from Central Grocery
Brown bread, crispy smoked bacon, ketchup. Heaven.
Can’t abide Marmite though - IMHO, it tastes like sperm.
It does? well I’ll be…
Mmmm - so many to choose from, but I guess my favorite today would be…
Take a Pepperidge Farm soft hoagie bun. Spread one side with yellow mustard, the other with Miracle Whip. On the mustard side, pile shredded iceberg lettuce, sliced garden tomatoes, and rings of sweet red onion. Then pile high with sliced ham, corned beef, and pastrami. Top with thinly sliced Alpine Swiss cheese, and smush the other side of the bread on top.
My idea of a Dagwood. Hoo-boy!
A Lenny’s Special from The Tropics.(A Bar)
Bagel,Big stack of Corned beef, Swiss Cheese, a slice of Cotto salami, this warmed in the oven till the bagel is a bit browned and the ceese melty good. Before serving add creme cheese! You get two of these on one plate, with a pickle spear! (Keep the chips though)
Currently, a major source of nutrition for me is peanut-butter and jelly sandwiches. Not just any PB&J. The bread must be this great multigrain bread that our grocery store started making, which is really dense and loaded with sunflower seeds. The peanut butter must be natural (Ingredients: Peanuts, salt.) The jelly must be my favorite store-brand all-fruit spread, the kind with the huge, whole cherries in it.
Easy to make. Extremely portable. Durable. Not prone to quick spoilage.
The correct amount of peanut butter and jelly is difficult sometimes to acheive. Too little, and the assertive bread overwhelms the filling. Too much and it oozes out. Practice makes perfect. I think I’ll go practice.
Best sandwich in the whole world, mmmmmnnn…

On the streets of Paris, after a long day giving a presentation at a science show and touristing around. I found a street market, one stall was from the local delicatessen selling half-bagette sandwiches. You could chose any meat and any cheese etc. from his little stall. I chose a wind dried ham, with strong hard cheese. It cost less than $1.00 and was delicious beyond measure. The combination of the location, the fantastic crusty bread with excellent ham and cheese, the remarkable low price, and the hunger after a long day, made this the best sandwich in the WHOLE world.
jennyrossity who ever’s sperm you are comparing Marmite too needs to see a doctor quick. Uh wait, you said tastes like, not looks like, OK maybe true, but I ain’t going to substitute when the jar runs out even though Marmite’s expensive here in usa.
My favorite exotic, once-in-awhile sandwich? Monte Cristo, hands down. Probably because so few places make it, even fewer make it well.
Favorite homemade? Turkey, bacon, tomato, cheese on toasted sourdough bread. Delish.
And now I’m hungry. Again. Dang.
Chicken Club stacked with crispy bacon, crispy lettuce, fresh tomato slice, mayo and mustard on buttered n’ toasted sour bread.
A side of ranch to dip it in, pickle spear, and potato salad will send it home.
Yup! I had one a few years ago when I visited family in New Orleans, and have been craving one for about the last six months. The olive spread rocked!
A mufaletta and a Blackened Voodoo Lager would sure hit the spot!
The Cajun Chicken Sandwich from the Jailhouse Sandwich Shop in Helena, Montana, USA.
A chicken breast marinated in cajun spices and then grilled, melted slice of pepper-jack cheese, two slices crisp bacon, cipotle mayo, sprouts, tomato optional (leave it off mine), on a big honkin’ bun.
Oh, how I miss them. :: sob ::
Sourdough bread, dill mayo, lox, avocado, several very thin slices of cucumber, tomato, spinach, dill mayo, sourdough bread. In that order. Sometimes I add a couple thin slices of havarti cheese if I’m feeling spunky. The best place to get this is at the Nugget Market on Covell in Davis, California.
Or, oatmeal bread, mayo, honey mustard, muenster cheese, honey raspberry turkey, a couple slices of jellied cranberry sauce from a can, avocado, mayo, oatmeal bread.
Yum, yum, yum.
Smoked salmon, red onion, tomato, cream cheese, bacon and dill on toasted sesame bagel.
Followed closely by BLT and turkey sandwiches.
