What is your least favorite fast food restaurant? NOT multiple choice

Wendy’s:

Their over-thick fries are mealy, their hamburgers taste…strange*, and their shakes are too thick (Why not just serve a cup full of under-chocolated chocolate ice cream).

Blech.

The only other one that compares to Wendy’s for badness on that list for me is Panda Express-every dish…every dish…even their “sushi” is both waaaay too sweet AND waaaay too salty. At the same time. AND greasy too. How do you manage to have greasy beef with broccoli?

*and not in a McDonald’s way–McDonald’s hamburgers are terrible hamburgers, but they taste good. Wendy’s burgers have a weird petrochemical taste

Well, plus all of Japan, Taiwan, and possibly Korea… I don’t know what Yoshinoya is like in the States, where it has pretty much no competition, but in Japan, where there are numerous chains just like it, Yoshinoya is pretty tasty. I mean, OK, it is disgusting, but all fast food is disgusting. It still tastes good. Plus it is pretty much the cheapest thing possible. It costs less than McDonalds. Now I have a craving for a beef bowl with cheese. :frowning:

I vote for Burger King, since they are the most prominent and also the least delicious to me. I’ve never even been to a bunch of those places, though.

A brand new Panda Express just opened up near my place of employment about a month ago and it is terrific. I’d never eaten at one before, and I would say I’m something of a food snob, but all the dishes of theirs I’ve tried have been hot, delicious and freshly prepared, especially the kung pao chicken and shrimp, and something they call Kobari beef.

Maybe the ones that have been around for awhile that exist in shopping mall food courts and staffed by bored teenagers suck, but this one is very good, and not too expensive.

You’re not doing it right! There’s only one acceptable instance where White Castle is considered “good”, and that’s at 3am, you’re liquored up out of your skull and nothing else is open.

The regrets come the next day, when defecation comes fast and furious, and your poop smells uncomfortably identical to what you ate there the night before.

Taco Bell gets my vote too. Its just nasty. Everything tastes the same. Tacos stuffed with gross shredded lettuce, spotty, mealy diced tomatoes…and not to mention every one around here I go to is just dirty inside. Yuck.

You gotta love the Dope… the most successful fast food chain in the world is ranked as the worst. We have people here who apparently get violently ill just walking past some of these places. We have an argument going about if a place’s food is spicy or not. Personally there is not a place on this list that I would not go to if it was the only option and I was hungry.

Without finding the posts to quote… Pulykamell are you sure you aren’t confusing Chipotle with Qdoba (someone asked… it is pronounced Q-Doe-ba)? I’m not a guzzle the insanity sauce kind of guy, but I do like things hot. I order 3 steak soft tacos with cheese (sour cream cuts the heat) and the Tomatillo Red Chili sauce (you can ask for extra). The first I think… this isn’t as hot as I remember. The second… now it is kicking in. The third… sweat is on my forehead. By far the hottest of any national chain I’ve found (exception is Firehouse Subs which has a big assortment of outside bottled sauces you can add… including insanity level bottles). PLUS Chipotle is the only place on the list that serves beer! How can you not like that?

Roast Beef at Arby’s has remained the same since I first remember eating there over 40 years ago. They used to steam the sandwich after making it (had a station where they put the sandwich on 5 little spikes and pushed a pedal which shot steam into the meat) which added something.

KFC is still pretty much as I remember it except for the gravy on the potatoes. It used to be a white gravy which was one of the Colonel’s pet peeves that had to be made right. I have no idea why they changed that.

White Castle isn’t really steamed… but it looks like someone has already addressed that.

The only one on the list I haven’t been to is Del Taco. I had to settle for Qdoba since I only ate there once and wasn’t impressed enough to go back.

A little surprised that McDonalds is leading here. I suspect voters are basing their choices on the chain’s negative impact on society and not how much they enjoy the food.

White Castle is the most disgustingly vile crap I have ever seen served as food. There’s very little I won’t eat, but White Castle is right in there.

Sigh.

A poster responded that all of Chipotle’s offerings were too spicy and intimated they stuffed everything with scotch bonnets or jalapenos, even joking the sour cream is stuffed with hot peppers. I found that odd, since the basic offerings (ETA: The basic offerings that I tried–I have not gone through their whole menu) are not spicy. Which, apparently, given your post above, you agree with. So what’s the confusion?

Remember, once again, my critique of Chipotle has nothing to do with the heat level. It is you who is somehow insisting it is. I haven’t even said a word about the salsas at Chipotle.

Spud – Never been to a Qdoba.

I agree with you 100%. Unless you specifically order the hottest sauce there is no heat at all in their basic ingredients. Flour Tortilla + Chicken + Lettuce + Sour Cream <> Spicy.

debated quite a while between LJS and KFC. decided on KFC simply because the ***smell ***of the place induces nausea.

As pathetic as it sounds, I consider myself pretty well informed on fast food. I eat out often, which goes against the grain of active posters, and I vary my selection as frequently as I can. I’m always eager to try out new informal dining. I read nutritional info and I still love getting a burger and fries or a plate at Panda Express. The only reason I haven’t put on a ton of extra pounds this year is I’ve settled into a two-meal-a-day routine.

That all said? McDonald’s is the only place where I have felt like I was actively harming myself by eating the food. Granted, I’ve never had White Castle. I’d get Big Macs and thoroughly enjoy the taste of them, but they made me feel absolutely awful shortly afterward.

Different strokes I guess. I recently had my oil changed and there was a KFC across the street. I was joking with the guys that worked there that I could never work there because the smell was making me drool and I’d be running over there every hour (I did drive directly from the shop and got lunch there).

And the meat is very…mysterious. You can see into the kitchen, which would normally be a good thing, but at Taco Hell it’s just nasty back there.

Dangit, in after edit:

As I implied in an earlier post, McDonald’s is successful because kids adore it. They also pursue an aggressive expansion policy and as such are often the most convenient and cheap choice for food. And sure, it’s not disliked by a lot of people, but this board has never been representative of the general public. That doesn’t necessarily mean people are voting based on the negative social impact of the chain like proper strawman liberals; it’s entirely likely it just means that this group of people has a different average preference than the mainstream.

I also voted for Chipotle - the only place where we ordered our meal, sat down, took one bite, looked at each other, threw out the “food” and left.

Arby’s, Long John Silver’s, and Quiznos all were under consideration as well. Penn Station would have been a major contender if it had made the poll.

I think McDonald’s is more of a comfort food thing. Just like a box of Kraft Mac and Cheese with a can of Hormel Chili dumped on top isn’t grand fare sometimes I just have to have it. I grew up on McD’s food and still crave it from time to time.

I spent a few weeks in Asia eating some of the best food of my life, but I have to admit that when I saw the golden arches in the Singapore airport I made a bee line there and the Big Mac I got there was exactly the same as the one I get about a half mile from my home.

Tough call. I almost picked Arby’s, then I realized if I were dragged there I could choke down a roast beef sandwich with extra horsey sauce and a potato cake.

Subway was almost picked, except that some days a tuna salad sandwich is just the thing and it’s one of the few things they do okay there. Also, my daughter who hates sandwiches likes their meatball subs.

I chose Hardee’s as my least favorite because I’d rather go hungry than go there. A few years ago, I really liked Hardee’s. They had a delicious Hawaiian chicken sandwich, the “six dollar” burger was good. Then they changed. No more chicken sandwich and the thickburgers are icky. There’s nothing there I want to put in my mouth.

I actually like McDonald’s, but the only entree I get there is the filet of fish sandwich. It is definitely a comfort food, being exactly the same as I remember it (now that they went back to the original rather than trying to foist that new crap on us). And, there are no other fries like the ones from Mickey D’s. Somedays it is all about the fries.

I too, believe that everybody on this planet who perceives things differently from me is deficient, lying, or simply wrong.

I chose LJS. I love fish, though broiled or raw is what I prefer. Deep fried if it is done correctly, but I’ve never had that at LJS. I haven’t been in one in years (and likely never will) because along with greasy food I received incorrect orders every single time.

A lot of people are like that with hot stuff though. I used to work at a Firehouse Subs and people would come in and sign a waiver to try the real hot stuff. After turning red, crying, spending several minutes in the bathroom, and swallowing several packets of sugar, they would barely gasp out that it wasn’t very hot. Sure, that’s why you walked in healthy and left looking like you had the plague…:dubious:

A lot of people are idiots, sure. That doesn’t mean there are literally only 3 possible reasons for thinking Chipotle’s barbacoa with red salsa isn’t very hot, especially if one of those 3 reasons isn’t “I have a greater tolerance for hot food than some people.”

Maybe a lot of people have only ever gone to one or two of these places.

Honestly, McDonald’s is one of my favorites on the list. How many of these would you rather go to for breakfast than McDonald’s? Seriously?

Also, a double cheeseburger and a hot fudge sundae is a classic combination that won’t do you wrong.
