What is your MBTI Personality Type?

Yet another INTJ. Took the tests on both links. It fits kinda-sorta. I’d say I’m more sympathetic and able to read people, and much more comfortable in social situations, than the test says I am.

The problem I have with all tests like this is that the test questions are sometimes poorly written or ambiguous, and of course real life doesn’t present clear dichotomies. People are always more complex than a test can measure and different circumstances change how you react.

I think the only real value these tests have is in matching people who might have less of a problem getting along, or for finding people for projects where you need certain traits. Even there, the test would be just one part of the screening. A test is no substitute for demonstrated abilities, and interviews are obviously more accurate in many ways than any test can be; writing is no substitute for real face to face interaction.

I did the test in highschool and I’ve taken it online several times since then. It’s always been ISTJ and it is very much “me”.
That color test was right on too.

I think it’s interesting but I don’t take it too seriously.

Isn’t this just the Minnesota Multiphase test? I took one of the online tests from a link here–it seemed awfully familiar. It also seemed like every ‘test’ that told me my zodiac sign.

Are we the only two ENFJ people on here? There ain’t too many of us.

I’ve had the test professionally administered (my boss thought it was worthwhile at the time), and have taken the test numerous times, always gotten the same results. They seem true to me, but who knows?

I’m marrying an ISTP, my diametric opposite. Maybe that’s why we like each other so much.

Nope, I lilke the Dope because it has my kind of folk. Being surprised at finding a bunch of INTJs here would be like being surprised at finding mushrooms in the forest during autumn.

Rubystreak, Mom’s ESFJ and Dad was INTP. I know several other couples who are cases of “opposites compensate for each other, so long as there’s a common ground”. Seems to work very well.

I am INFJ.

I have read in a couple of mangament books (*The Truth about Managing People * and Why Teams Fail) that a personaltiy test is all good and that, but people are more than just their personality, which is why sometimes any personality test does not do justice to something as complex as human being.

Ultimately it’s how they behave on the job that matters.

One also has to consider his upbringing, values, world-view, skills and the behaviours that he/she is inclined for an accurate ‘reading’, IMHO.

I think there’s a lot to the MBTI. As psychological tests go, I think it is well designed and the questions are well chosen. Example: which appeals to you more: Justice or Mercy? That tells you a lot about someone.

I’m an ISTJ, which is more fun to say if you do it to the tune of “YMCA”.

I took the test back in High School, and IIRC, that’s what I was.

And, none of them were even close to the line.

At the wiki page, it says this:

You can’t believe how spot on all of that is. It’s all phrased in a positive light, though. When looked at from another perspective, “may argue for fun on either side of a question” and “outspoken” can be read as “what an asshole”.

And, I’m sure my wife would tell you she wouldn’t mind fewer “new interests” and less “neglecting routine assignments.”

Those tests never work for me. I’m pretty much xxTx, With a very strong T, and all the rest changing each time, and usually being near 50/50.

I’m an INTP (Architect)

The Kiersey book (Please Understand Me) recommends that you marry someone who is half-opposite. For me he recommended (IIRC) an ENFP which is a teacher personality type. I actually married an INTJ (Mastermind).

That book was recommended to me by a family counselor when I was a teen and it made a huge difference in my family’s dynamics. With 3 teens in the house at the same time, you need all the understanding you can get.

I really don’t think so. The Minnesota took three or four hours to take and could show up individual traits such as hostility and dishonesty. I don’t believe that it was limited to sixteen personality types.

I talk about it in the past tense only because I know some counselors don’t use it in therapy anymore.

I am yet another INTJ (by the book) and I feel reasonably certain that I’m right. :stuck_out_tongue:

wikipedia calls the ENFJ the “Teacher” type. Supposedly only 2-3% of the population is an ENFJ, which makes me wonder what all my fellow teachers are… 'cause I can tell you now, they aren’t all ENFJ’s.

Strong IN, usually come out as either INTJ (“Mastermind”) or INFJ (“Counsellor”). I find that the T/F and the J/P dichotomies are nowhere near as dichotomous as the MBTI test tries to make them out to be. I’d like to think that I’m more the Counsellor than the Mastermind, but I am just deluding myself ? :dubious:

I’m INTJ, but barely. I’m very close to an ENFJ. Which is interesting: my INTJ persona is logical and rational, but my ENFJ is manipulative (but only to help people, so it’s the good kind of manipulative  ). I think people that know me would agree with both. Or at least would agree that I think I’m both.

Fair enough, but it did look as if you were collecting information for some type of dissertation. That test looked like a straight M-B with a rather irrelevant sugar coating.

My personality type tends to be suspicious - looking for covert motives

Ahh… my mistake. I guess I managed to read ‘bolster my skepticism’ as either ‘bolster my faith’ or ‘assuage my skepticism’, simply because those are phrases that I would expect to see more in a discussion like this, even if they are completely opposite in meaning to what you said.

Sorry 'bout dat.

Yet another INTJ - I’ve taken five or so of these, and it’s nearly always the same. Close to INFP though, and I think I did slip into INFJ on one of them.

“they know what they don’t know.” - Natch, pride myself on this.

Yet another INTJ - I’ve taken five or so of these, and it’s nearly always the same. Close to INFP though, and I think I did slip into INFJ on one of them. I’m extremely emphatic, which doesn’t seem to fit with my type.

“they know what they don’t know.” - Natch, pride myself on this.
“INTJs see what might be and say “Why not?!”” - Sure
“amusement at those whom they feel may be taking a particular view of reality too seriously” - Yeah, pretty much the core of my sense of humour

“Fictional:… Gandalf the Grey (J. R. R. Tolkein’s Middle Earth books)” - Hell yeah!

FFS, could a mod please get rid of the half finished version?

I got ENFP on the two tests I took. I don’t know how if I’m as wild and spontaneous as the test implies, but my room sure is a mess…

My favorite quote is this one: ‘Close enough is satisfactory to the ENFP, which may unnerve more precise thinking types, especially with such things as piano practice (“three quarter notes or four … what’s the difference?”)’
I think that’s the root every fight I’ve ever gotten in with my mother, especially when it came to my piano lessons.

I’m apparently an ISTJ. Yeah, I guess that sounds plausible.
