I am intrigued by the ages of most of the Dopers. A transition from early 2000s message boards to Facebook/Instagram/Snapchat never occurred?
Upon seeing this thread zombified, I tried the test again - and scored 18 against my real age of 33. I guess somewhere there must be a painting of my brain that’s getting older.
Perhaps next to mine, I’ve lost 9 mental years since the thread first was around.
- Not bad for a 61 year old (though it explains why nobody even believes my real age).
Chronologically, I’m 42. Mentally, I’m 29. Go figure.

Read age 50. Mental age 26. What you said.
Managed to get 10, did it properly and got 36
I’m nearing 20
Goes with the choice of user name
Age 57, mental age 31. However, I think my mental age would have been older if appropriate options had been available for some of the questions, such as:
Miley Cyrus: haven’t the faintest idea.
Baseball caps: left in the closet.
I am not only 1/2 of my chronological age, I am “Mildly Happy”!
I never suspected either…
79/47
I think I’m going to have to do a retake of that test. Apparently I got a mental age of 48, but I know that’s not right since I am 21 and I expect that my actual mental age (i.e. not from that test) is somewhere in the region of 16-20.
Can’t edit so will make a new post.
Retake got me to 32… which is still way off what my mental age would probably be like in real life.
Real 29
Mental 27
Seems right to me!
Chronologically 38, mentally 46. Sounds about right.
I suspect one problem with this test is it may assume that more “liberal” answers are indicative of youth, and answers that indicate an unfamiliarity with current pop culture or technology are indicative of being older.
I bet I could have gotten an even lower “mental age” had I answered the iPhone question with something other than “It’s just a phone” (in reality, I just hate telephones in general, and have since long before cell phones came along), and I could have gotten a higher age if I hadn’t answered that Miley Cyrus is a beautiful young woman (because DAYUM she is).
Mental age 34. Actual age 35. Didn’t think it was the best questionnaire, but then it’s not a scientific study.
It’s a measure of how practical and stodgy you are. It’s the “get off my lawn” test.
Apparently my mental age and my biological age are identical. I’m not sure that is a good thing.
Actual 63 ; Mental 24.
Is this test reliable?
Chronological: 48. Mental: 20.
Not too surprising, that. I’ve always said that I feel like I’m stuck at 17.
