What is your most hated song?

Lots of dudes with a nice speaking voice cant sing.

I cant argue with that.

There are two songs I hate with all my heart, Nickelback’s “Photograph” and Dave Matthews Band’s “Crash.” Since I have to pick one, I’ll go with “Crash” since it’s so fucking creepy. The Nickelback one is merely asinine.

I feel the pain for many of the songs already listed here. One ditty that has always crawled up my butt sideways is “And When I Die” by Blood, Sweat, and Tears. I hate everything about this one, from the faux cowboy riff to David Clayton-Thomas’ bloviating. This one got a lot of airplay on the local classic rock station, and I mastered just how long I had to turn the radio off for.

Huh. I don’t think I’ve heard this song on classic rock stations or their predecessor format, album rock, in half a century. Wherever the line is between ‘classic rock’ and ‘oldies,’ BS&T seemed to fall on the ‘oldies’ side of the line, at least in the places I’ve lived.

ETA: I personally like the song, but I only hear it when I play it.

I heard it on the Sixties channel on SiriusXM not long ago. I liked BS&T when they were popular and I was in high school. I still like hearing their hits like this one and ‘Spinning Wheel’.

WZLX in Boston went to “Classic Rock” in the mid-80s, which for them at the time meant more AOR sounds from the late 60s through the 70s. Since they only had about 20 years’ worth of stuff to play, they pulled from some deep sources. Which could be very cool. For people who still wanted to hear The Doors, but not have it followed up by Bon Jovi.

I always confuse them with Earth, Wind, and Fire.

I for the longest time thought it was Tom Jones. ( based on the singing voice )

I prefer the version by Laura Nyro, who wrote the song.

Hallelujah by Leonard Cohen. I also have hated all 3 dozen or so covers of the song used in movies and TV shows that I’ve had the misfortune of also hearing.

I don’t hate “Hallelujah” but I hate its misuse. A group called Pentatonix had a sizeable hit with it a few years ago. I was working part-time for a radio station that did the wall-to-wall Christmas thing. I cringed every time I had to play it. I emailed my boss, the Program Director, saying “Have you listened to the words??? It is not a Christmas song and is totally inappropriate for what we’re doing!” He replied that he agreed with me but “It’s the number-one song, so…”

COVID put an end to my gig at that station, but I’ll bet they’re still playing it.

Born in the USA is the opposite of a Patriotic song, but that doesnt stop people that only know the chorus.

But Yeah, altho I do not hate the song, it is NOT Christmas. (I give “These are a few of my Favorite Things” a pass, as it is kinda winter seasonal- but not Christmas really.)

I remember when that song was a minor hit (compared to “Broken Wings” at any rate, which one coldn’t avoid during the summer of 1985), my mother heard the song while I was watching Video Hits one afternoon and signaled her approval (wholesome cultural content). My mom’s Presbyterian, not Catholic, so I don’t know where she picked up the casual knowledge of what it meant.

It seems to be used in Presbyterian hymns, as well, after checking a quick Google of “Kyrie Eleison prsebyterian.” Greek orthodox uses it, too, (well, it’s Greek, so not surprising there) as well as Anglican, Coptic, Ethiopian churches, from what I can find.

driver’s licence by olivia rodrigo.

dunno why, i just hate it more than anything.

After fifty oh yeah I forgot how much I hate that one too’s I just skimmed, so I don’t know if the song they play eternally in hell has been posted yet: It’s A Small World After All.

I have a vision of its a small world accompanying a montage of distressing child-related news footage to create the most harrowing charity advert of all time

Then by all means, stay away from this movie!

Hurt - Johnny Cash.

The H song poll reminded me how much I hate this cover, and all the fawning love it gets. The fact that it was nominated, and the NIN original wasn’t, is just dumb.

It makes me think just a little less of Trent Reznor, that even he considers it better than his original.
