What Japanese movies do I own?

When I lived in China, I bought a nice box of Studio Ghibli movies, failing in my ignorance to realize that only half of them or so have English audio. Most have English subs, though, which is nice.

Anyway, the discs are also usually not labeled in English and I don’t know what titles I own. I am hoping to find English audio versions of my movies so I can complete the collection. I know some don’t have English versions, but some might.

By the way, none of the ones I am asking about have the title in the English subtitles either.

OK, here they are. I appreciate it if anyone can help.

Movie 1 Ghoshu in the Gelist? I see that title there, but don’t know what it is.

Movie 2 Is this My Neighbor Tortoro? I have this one in English if it is, but the opening seems different in Japanese.

Movie 3 I have no idea what this one is.

Movie 4 Looks like Princess Mononoke, but it isn’t.

Movie 5 This one has English audio, but I still don’t see the title in English and it’s scratched and works poorly. I need to get it again.

Any ideas? Please number your answers if you know, just like I did.

Movie 2 is definitely My Neighbor Totoro. I can’t help with the others without using a dictionary.

Movie 5 looks like Castle of Cagliostro.

The last one is Castle of Cagliostro - it’s a Lupin III movie and really awesome.

Looking a bit online:

1 is Gauche the Cellist or Goshu the Cellist.

Based on the panda on the front, 3 might be Panda Go Panda! but I am unsure.

#2 Totoro

#5 Lupin III: Castle of Cagliostro

I’ve found the Chinese Wiki page for Movie 3: http://zh.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E7%86%8A%E8%B2%93%E5%AE%B6%E6%97%8F. It’s a redirect from the Chinese title on the disc, 熊貓家族 – and there is a link to the English wiki page for Panda! Go,Panda! (a Miyazaki movie that I haven’t heard of before). For some of the others, the title on the disc may be Chinese rather than Japanese, as in this case.

Does it have an English dubbed release?

Yes, looks like we have most of these correct. I’ve saved some on my Netflix Queue. Hoping to find them someday.

Yeah, somewhere in the attic I think I even have it on VHS - it didn’t used to be available subbed, I think? I can’t stand dubs, though.

Two of them, in fact. One by Streamline, one by Manga. (The former long out of print, the latter…I’m not sure of…)
