Conical for the most part, but I have glassware to match beer styles when appropriate.
Anyone else frequent a bar that does glass giveaways? House of 1000 Beers celebrates every Wednesday by tapping a new keg and giving away a commemorative glass to those who drink it. WooHoo!! Current draft beer menu.
They’ve had to fight Pennsylvania’s Liquor Control Board over this practice, as it is against state law to “encourage consumption”.
We have glassware to match a few different styles of beer in our cabinet, but I’ve never bothered to educate myself on which glasses are intended for which styles of beer. (I’m willing to grant that it makes a difference, but I’ve never personally noticed one.)
So I usually use one of our generic glasses that resemble this - they’re on a lower shelf, easier to reach, and unlikely to require a rinse to remove dust.
Ultimately, this is the answer I prefer.
Beyond that, I have pilsner, conical, a weird half-liter boot (a-la Beerfest), a handled half-liter Pilsner glass/mug and a straight-sided glass half-liter stein that I got at a local Oktoberfest celebration. (it’s just like the one in the link, but says “Addison Oktoberfest 2003”)
I usually prefer the conicals for beers under about a standard 16 oz US pint because they fit into the dishwasher easier. For larger ones, the half-liter stein comes out because it fits into the dishwasher easier than the pilsner glasses do.
I have yet to find something that holds an entire bomber and yet fits into the dishwasher reasonably well. That would be the holy grail (pun intended).
This company makes really cool beer glasses.
Never knew there were so many types. I always drink beer out of a glass. I like to smell it and see it. But I am not into shapes.
I remember having a Sam Adams at an airport. Sam Adams had their own glass for their beer. I liked the shape of it. I asked if I could buy one. And the bartender said “No, people just steal them”.
I usually drink directly from the can or bottle, but when drinking beer on tap I prefer the tulip shaped glass linked to in the OP
Am I the first one to say “The kind with beer in it”?
On review: Nope, not by a long shot.
I have a bunch of terra cotta beer glasses(?)* that I got at beer fests in Germany, and they are my favorites.
*Cups?
Does glass hold beer?
If yes, then glass is good enough.
If I really really wanted a beer, and it was a good beer, I would drink it out of this if it came to it.
As long as you keep your pinky extended, any glass will do.
