What kind of bird is this?

This was used as the header for a story on Futurism.com and I thought the bird was pretty cool looking but I’m no ornithologist myself and my Google Image search returned only a handful of results, most or all of which appeared to be others simply using the same license-free image.

I’m no arborist either, so I can’t even use the tree to help figure out where the picture might have been taken to narrow things down.

Can anyone identify this bird for me?
