What kind of casual hat for a conehead.

So, as my hair thins a bit I am needing a hat more and more often for watching sports, fishing etc. anything more than 20 minutes or so in the sun.

I am the least style or appearance knowledgeable person on earth, but even I can tell how much of a doof I look like in a baseball cap. The top of my head is really tall, and I have a big forehead. And a baseball cap just kind of emphasizes it by focusing on just how far my eyes and ears are below the cap bottom edge compared to normal humans. And the basic fishing floppy brim deally is even worse, it looks like I am hiding a couple phonebook under my hat.

Any body have any suggestions for those with an extra high pate? Hopefully cheap that I would have to care if it blew off on a boat, or got sweaty and needed to be replaced?

Well, there’s this…

Viking Helmet

Well, you could look like this guy…

Hey. He’s a well-respected actor.

Have you tried a fitted baseball cap with a deep uhm…cup?

I can’t wear “shallow” baseball caps because of my humongous head and even humongouser hair, but a deep, fitted cap fits great.

Cheap and/or free hats tend to be super shallow.

A trilby, every man should own a trilby.

Or move to Texas and get a 10 gallon hat

A pork pie hat would be perfect!

Nonsense. Trilbys look absurd on we men of large craniums. I think it is the skinny brim.

However, a nice panama hat works well on everyone. And it has enough brim to prevent sunburn.

For the boat, where being blown off is a real concern, I wear a Broner cap, I’m not sure of the correct name of the style, but it has a very long brim almost like a marlin fishing cap and a neck flap. It had a drawstring to tighten across the brow. My wife refers to it as the “Ass Hat.”

A took hat might work with the added bonus of keeping it well-seated. Of course, if you are feeling more festive, there are other options available:wink:

How about a fez? You’d be v. popular with all the Dr. Who fans.

How about a yellow hat?

Straw cowboy hat. Inexpensive, easily replaced at your local western wear store, lightweight and cool, you can adjust the brim in several styles til you find one that suits your head shape and face.
