What kind of CLASSIC arcade games can i get for my ps2?

Just got a new ps2, I’d like to some of the old classics (if there are any) like moon patrol or spy hunter ect…
Sorry for being so self serving BTW. I tried goolge but just kept getting alot of stuff I didn’t want.

Thanks in advance.

Atari has a disk out for Playstation 1 that has Centipede, Missile Command, Battle Zone, Asteroids, Tempest, etc. etc. on it. All ps1 disks work on the ps2.

I know there are Namco disks with Pac-Man, Ms Pac-Man, Dig Dug, Galaga, Pole Position–classics like those. Not exactly sure which games are on which disks, but I believe each different disk has four games. I think they may also be for the PS1, but of course they’ll work perfectly on your PS2.

The Namco disk is available in a PS2 version on the low price red bordered release. I doubt it is different to the PS1 versions as the PS1 versions were supposedly perfect coppies. There is a very cheap PS2 release called “light force 2” that is a fairly recent Japanese 2D scrolling shooter.

I have the Atari games for the PC, and they are pretty good. Not quite arcade, but Activision has a PS2 game including lots of their stuff for the 2600, including Stampede. Some weird variants are included, but the basic games are exact copies up to and including the crummy graphics and cheap sound effects.

Do any of the Namco disks include Adventure? Trivial, bad programming, easy to win but oddly compelling.

If you get the Linux kit, you can use console and arcade emulators like MAME. There’s a regular PS2 port (try Googling for “ps2 mame”) but it looks like it’s missing a few features and is hard to set up.

MAME is easy to set up, it’s getting/adding games that’s tricky because of copyrights.
