What law would I be breaking?

A post by Giraffe gave me an idea.

Whats to stop me from sitting on the corner with a bowl full of condoms next to a high school passing them out to anyone who wants a few.

I’m sure this would set off a handful of panic attacks among parents but if done without any conditions or flirting with the kids, would there be any legal ramifications?

If there’s a law against being one seriously fucking creepy dude, that would be the one you’re breaking.

On a serious, legal note, however, IAMAL so I have no idea =( Maybe loitering?

I’d say, contributing to the delinquency of minors.

Maybe mopery.

My high school gave out condoms. What’s the big deal?

In a thread I was reading Giraffe had mentioned that many schools do not take sex education seriously and until kids start learning about safe sex and having access to the tools to be safe, that many problems WRT teen pregnancy, STDS, etc will continue unabated.

Just an academic excercise, not planning on doing it, but just wondering about the legal implications of a NPO or someplace like planned parenthood sponsoring or operating such giveaways.

You could probably be charged with disorderly conduct or creating a nuisance. There are so many laws on the books that if a DA wants to get you, there will be some local or state law to use–probably just a misdemeanor.

But the real answer is anytime you do something in public that a vocal group of folks think is terrible, you will end up in a civil lawsuit–they would file for an injunction based on public morals or creating a disturbance or some such theory.

You would have a 1st amendment defense. And you’d probably get your name in the newspaper, maybe even on the local TV news:)

Of course not all states forbid minors to have sex with eachother…

I Am Mackin’ A Lawyer?

They did that at my high school on Valentine’s day. I’m not sure who they where, but there was a group of people just off school property handing them out.

Of course when my brother had his junior prom (same school) some how they got away with the theme being “Let’s Get It On” So go figure. (BTW it was in a pretty conservative city).
