What Madame Defarge Has Been Up To Lately -- A Yarny MMP

Well, of course! He’s cute and all, but I wouldn’t mind him whisperin’ sweet nothings in my ear. “Engage” takes on a whole new meaning.

Anyway, as long as meli’s cool with it.

Four ittttttyyyy-bittttttyyyyy* 1Gig memory cards for my Sansa e200 MP3 player. I figured at $8/card, it was way cheaper than $20 or $30 for the 2Gig cards.

They’re kinda cute, actually, and are just a tad larger than the nail on my middle finger (but way smaller than the nail on my thumb–I have very small hands).

*ittttttyyyy-bittttttyyyyy is the technical term. Trust me, I’m a tech writer.

Oh, she has known for quite some time that she has to, to paraphrase her, “Vie for [my] attention with old British men”, after I expressed my long standing crushes on Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, and Alan Rickman. (Note that I did not mention John Hurt!)

What? No Jeremy Irons? Or maybe he’s too young.

At the mention of Alan Rickman’s name, I must drool. It’s a Pavlovian response.

I was home before 5:00 p.m.!!! Shoulda stayed longer, but I had a headache and two of my friends were leaving early and I just decided it was time to go.

Of course, I’ll be going in early tomorrow to get some additional stuff done…

  Yay, employed swampy!!!  Pass the beer, please.

So, when’s Drae getting a job? And LOUNE, I know you’re out there somewhere…still looking? Anyone else I’m missing?

Off to do stuff. Back later.

GT

And to think some of you find me disturbing!

On a side-note, that mafia-game is going to ruin my life. I followed Mafia I and II and remember thinking whoa, people get really into these games! People need to chill! It’s just a game! And now I find myself glued to the screen at the expense of doing actual, you know, work. I wonder if I can hide in a cave for the next few months. A cave with Internet, of course.

I know exactly what you mean; some people get very intense and take things way too seriously. I have a feeling this one isn’t going to be as much fun as the last one I was in. I try to keep caught up with the thread but I do have a bit of a life and I have too much to do (especially getting ready for my show) to spend all my time in front of a computer screen. I do check it out when I take smoke breaks, though.

Oh…did someone say Alan…<loving sigh with soulful eyes>

It’s a bit warm in here, no?

MBG-you were just in a hotel room, ordering room service. Where the hell are you?
I third the shrug or wrap. There are lots of nice summery dresses out there, but almost all of them can be dressed up with a wrap. You’ll be the classiest one there (bride excepted).

#2 son and a friend are [del]cheating at[/del] playing Battleship. I hate that game–it’s like military bingo: boring and destructive*. Then again, they are occupied and relatively quiet. Objection withdrawn.

*this is hyperbole. I really don’t care.

Good idea on the wrap. Thanks guys! That’s why I turned to you!

rigs, I spent 3 days and two nights in Peoria. I now feel like WC Fields, having spent a week in Peoria one day…

It was a Bus People conference. Now I’m home and watching some really awesome clouds roll by and dump rain on us.

Home for a bit, then I gotta go back and help close. 29 days till vacation.

Nava, sorry, I meant bed.

Hey, kai! I love salmon, and so does Maggie Wonderbeagle.

Great job, BBBobbio! You know, I’ve been in N.C. for 30 years and I’ve never been to the Outer Banks.
[Sings off key]
I like brown bottles and aluminum cans,
Simple maybe…
but that’s who I am…
Hey I’M JUST A BEER MAN.[/SOK]

Woo hoo swampy!

Jahdra, crying perps are a good thing.

Funny coincidence - that’s the same date that DH starts his new job. He’s had it up to here (holds hand somewhere above his head) with all of the nonsense at the senior home and is now heading a couple exits down the freeway to rescue a moving company from their former office manager who apparently cooked books and dabbled in embezzling, and the apparently soon to be former employee who dabbles in swiping clients.

The stress of the soon to be ex-job has been hurting him physically, so getting out of it is just what he needs. Significantly more money’s not exactly going to hurt his feelings either!

Second Prize=one night in Peoria

First Prize= two nights! (or something like that)
My daughter just made devil’s food cupcakes with homemade frosting. I may die happy tonight…
Just finished my bib for one class. No more papers today-will start again tomorrow.

humid humid humid humid thunderstorm humid.
BLEH!

It’s thundering somewhere within earshot, but nary a drop has fallen… <sigh>

I’m off to sleepy time.

Congrats Swampbear! When is the free beer pool party?

It’s raining in at my house. We have had a pleasantly wet spring and all the growing things are green and happy. Except for my Japanese Maple. We had one helluva freeze in April and it not only beat up my maple, but it killed off the lilac flowers, the iris flowers and the peony flowers. :frowning:

Alan Rickman… Mmmmm…

I’ve had a martini and ran some errands… wait, reverse that… okay. Today was so busy at work that this is the first chance I’ve had to catch up with the day’s news!

What else… I got nada.

My dear, it appears you no longer need my prompting in order to bring John Hurt into the discussion, do you? And why is it that everyone here seems to hold a fondness for old British men except me? Maybe after having to “vie” with them for Ali’s attention I no longer see them to be nearly as appealing.

On a completely random note, so this post isn’t completely a wisecrack at Ali – it’s been storming quite a bit in Michigan today, with thunder rumbles nearly constant throughout the day. It was so stormy, in fact, that a good friend of mine (who lives a couple hours away, but still in the state) saw a funnel cloud today! Thankfully it never came close to touching down, so she was never in danger, but damn, that had to be a scary moment when she first saw it!

And congratulations on getting a job, Swampy! throws shiny confetti about, getting glitter in everyone’s hair

I am confused–I thought Alistair McCello was a guy.
I also just checked with my prof–I have to add something to my paper. Yuck.

More work, tomorrow. blech.
