Happy Canada Day to all the Canucks, here1 (LiLi).
That is all.
Happy Canada Day to all the Canucks, here1 (LiLi).
That is all.
I went down the street and chatted with friend who lives a few doors down. I was down there quite awhile and have just noticed the time. I guess I’ll have to get dinner going now.
Hubby is still working on the truck. He’s got one side left to wax and then he’ll be done with that. Somehow, I don’t think he’ll be washing and waxing my rig today.
You know, I’m not even hungry, but I know the hubby and my son are. My daughter is still gone, but she should be coming home any time now. I don’t know how hungry she’ll be.
Well, off my butt and out to the kitchen to fix dinner.
Pedicure! I am jealous. I used to indulge in those, ere my grad school days. Now that I have an income I might start up again.
My latest indulgence - a summer babydoll dress, as some of you might recall. I cropped the photo so my messy household remains hidden.
Taters, I’m not hungry either, but I plan to go drinking tonight, and drinking on an empty stomach is probably bad. Suppose I better go scarf something down.
Normally, that babydoll dress would be cute as hell, but I am somewhat off baby stuff (read the last two pages of this thread to find out why…)
I have looked at my homework schedule for the next week and it is not pretty. I better feel better fast.
Anyone want to write a mystery genre paper for me?* I’l give you ice cream!
*just in case this lands in the hands of academia–I kid, I kid!
Dayamn, Haze, you really are a cutie - especially when you’re bright-eyed and not drunk (like in some of the other pics)
Dinner was nice, the RT crab cakes are better than they look in the commercial. I ordered a Mojito, but I didn’t finish it. I also had their version of a cobb salad - it was nummy - and 2/3’s of it is sitting in the fridge for tomorrow.
We were supposed to meet up for coffee and dessert with friends who were at a summer concert and fireworks display at the big park in the area but I ran out of energy and asked for a raincheck. I’ll be off to bed real soon now.
Thanks ALL for the continued well wishes, thoughts and prayers. Of course, I haven’t heard from the doctor’s office yet wrt making the appointment for the needle biopsy (for which I have to go to where I had the ultrasound and pick up the pics!); I’m just trying to be as un-anxious as possible in the mean time. Worse comes to worse, it will be surgery to remove the thyroid and maybe a dose of radioactive iodine to make sure it’s all gone.
In the mean time, I’ve been grocery shopping and getting healthier foods, especially fresh fruits and veggies. I’ve got strawberries, blueberries, cantaloupe, pineapple, grapes and sweet cherries (Safeway had em on sale at $1.99/lb although it ended today). Plus I got plenty of fresh salad makins, and tomorrow I -am- headed to a local farmer’s market to get more fresh veggies and to see what local fruits are ripe (no peaches here yet, I don’t think). I got some of the spritzer salad dressing, going to see how that works out. I figure I’ll probably try a mostly vegetarian diet, with fish, chicken and turkey and maybe occasional red meat. I did get some nice salmon fillets which I plan on grilling. I never have liked fish but have found that I do like grilled salmon and talapia (sp?), so that’s a good thing. I also got lots of whole grain stuff; I’m just hoping that my digestive system won’t completely rebel on me!! laughs
Haze, you are just right for that baby doll dress style. Swampy, you inspired me with your veggie purchases, so Ima looking for some snap beans tomorrow. Them or wax beans; love me some wax beans! Bet that nanner puddin was good. Kai, hope things are going well up on Kodiak–have your flowers come out yet? Hope that the FCM AC gets fixed ASAP, although it is supposed to be bearable for the next few days, heat and humidity wise (or so the weather people are telling us …!).
12 pages!!! Good heavens, folks! Enjoy the rest of the weekend, and oh yeah, I’m looking forward to Mama Tig’s October 1 MMP about Oregon. That Tillamook cheese is the best!!
Herbs, continued prayers! That list of healthy food has reminded me just how unhealthily I’ve been eating lately. guilty look
I wonder how** swampy** would look in my babydoll dress…? (sorry rigs)
Ok, can I brag on din-din tonight? Y’all are probably tired of me talking about food all the time…
So I made Robin Miller’s “Chicken Rollatini.”
4 chicken boobs
4 oz goat cheese
1 cup fresh spinach, chopped
4 slices prosciutto
2 tbs dijon mustard
1 c seasoned bread crumbs
2 tbs olive oil
Preheat oven to 400°.
Pound chicken breasts to 1/4 thickness. Mix goat cheese and chopped spinach. Place prosciutto on chicken breast, and spread with goat cheese mixture. Roll up, and secure with toothpicks. Brush with dijon mustard, and roll in breadcrumbs. Brown in olive oil in oven-proof skillet, browning all sides. Bake in oven 20 minutes.
I served with boiled parsley potatoes, and frozen mixed veggies. Yum!
Not much going on today - just laundry. I repotted a plant. I took a nap. Ya gotta love Saturdays!! Oh, and I finished menu plannin’ and grocery list makin’. Sunday is grocery store day.
We are planning on going to the beach on the 4th, VERY early (5:00 am?) to beat the traffic, and come back early in time to bbq some ribs. I can’t wait to see how Ernie acts.
He’s such a good boy! He’s potty trained now, and everybody’s healthy and happy… as am I. (Healthy and happy I mean, I’ve been potty trained for quite a while now!
<obligatory half-drunk post> I love you guys! Mwah!
I worked a little on the poodle, but mostly worked on an aran purse. I’m such a flake. I’d rather cast on for a new project than finish what I have.
I finally polished my silver necklace. It looks much better now. It was stored in what was supposed to be a silver box, obviously that didn’t work so well.
I’ve been letting my hair go “natural” for a couple of weeks, using Curly Girl as a guide. I expected to get some nice waves and maybe a curl or two. I was rather surprised this morning to realize I have curls! When I think about how I tortured my hair in junior high and high school to get it to curl, and all I had to do was stop using shampoo. No more frizz, either.
I had naturally wavy hair - and when I wore it short, it looked like a perm (see pic a few pages back of me and Cousin) When asked which salon I’d gone to, I’d answer “it’s original equipment”. Now, I wear my hair straight, because it makes me look younger than my (mmblmmph) years
I’m almost finished beading. I still have to finish putting the black cloth on the necklace boards Mr. SCL made for me. I have one more batch of beads to go in the oven, one more to glaze and one set on the glazing rack now. So the end is in sight.
My librarian friend has been going downtown on Saturday mornings to an open air maket where the organic farmers bring their produce. She said there were people down there selling stuff other than food - one lady makes brooms and there were two people selling jewelry. She said it wasn’t as nice as mine. After I recover from the 4th I’m going to the Downtown Business District office and find out how much it costs to set up down there. If I am even remotely interested in doing this anymore, that is!
I’m going to try to take pictures of my best stuff before I pack everything up. I’ll post them when I do.
Sorry I haven’t been in here much - hugs, smiles, groans and cheers as appropriate.
Tonight was another episode of “Let’s cut the help from dogbutler’s shift, since he has god-like powers, and can do it all himself.” At least I’m off tomorrow.
:waves at SCL: Hope your sale goes well!
You’re still im my prayers, Herbs.
MBG, maybe we are weirdos. The line between genius and madness is mighty thin.
Haze, you look beautiful in that dress.
Good morning everybody! Hope y’all enjoyed sleeping late, and put in an extra few minutes for me (up at 7, work at 8… same old :()
Have you no mercy?
So, HOW’S THE HEAD, HAZE?!
**Rosie **-- check your mail; I wrote from my “real” address, but you should be able to recognize it.
And I’m sure dying at your hands would be a once-in-a-lifetime experience
**SCL **-- Good luck; Bon chance; B’hatzlakha!! בהצלחה! (that’s in hebrew, of course.)
Rigs, Tarra, and anybody else under the weather… get well already. That’s an order.
Where’s Roo? You don’t love me any more?
When I hear barking in my neighborhood after Bernie decides to go walkabout, I know she’s responsible. This morning, I was too lazy to look for footwear, so rather than leash up Bernie and head out for her mornng constitutional, I decided to just turn both critters loose. Scruffy, as usual, did her thing and came right back. Bernie did her “casual” walk, during which she ignored my demands that she come back, and she gradually worked her way to the back corner of the yard where she goes thru the fence.
Before anyone yells at me for not fixing the fence, I have to tell you that she can escape anywhere along its several-hundred-foot length, which is why I normally take her out on a leash. But lately, she goes out, pees, and comes right back in. Except that this morning is cool and lovely, so she decided she needed to take a stroll. I left the garage door open - she’s never gone more than 10 or 15 minutes - and I filled all the critter bowls.
As soon as I logged on here, I started hearing some gawd-awful barking and I was pretty sure where it was coming from and who was responsible. So I found my flip-flops and the car keys and headed out. I was at the end of the driveway when I saw idiot Bernie, but she refused to come when called, so I drove down toward her. That’s where I saw the 3 other dogs. One was a golden, one was a squatty little yappy mutt, and the third was (I think) a lab mix. I know where the last 2 live - they’re never tied in their yard, so I quit walking Bernie along our street - I’m too old to fight off idiot dogs.
Anyway, I stopped the car, got out, and stupid Bernie came over. I had to hoist her fat butt into the car, and now she’s lying on the kitchen floor, panting. She’s an idiot. And I need to keep some ratty old shoes in the garage that I can step into so I can take her out on her leash. That’s the end of freedom, stoopit dog! grrrrrr… sheesh - and just now I had to break up a potential dog fight in the house. Bernie went over to her dish to eat and idiot Scruffy went over and growled at her. Both dishes are full, but apparently Scruffy doesn’t want Bernie to eat. Or something. Scruffy is the reason female dogs get called “bitch.”
I’m going to the boat with **FCD ** today - we’re going to install the ceiling panels in the V-berth plus try to put the headsail on (only if there’s no breeze) and, I dunno, do some more nautical chores. So no sewing - yay! But I’ll be in a scrubbing and cleaning mode I guess. Oh well - at least it won’t be too hot out. In theory. Once my sweetie get up - he’s sacked out pretty good right now.
Happy Sunday, all.
Had to add this for all the knitters and crocheters!
I’m up and caffeinating before Mass. None of my pets have escaped this morning. Heck, none of my pets are conscious this morning.
Special1, I’m off work today
Enjoy the boating day, FCM!
Ah, so you’re all going to be ribbing me one by one? O…K!
Remember, Friday is payback time
We can rib you on Weds also - at least those of us in the US who get July 4th off. For most of the country, it’s Independence Day. At FairyChatEstates, it’s Hang-The-New-Bedroom-Doors day! <flinging confetti with wild and reckless abandon…>
… and yet both of you are up and about before 7 AM. On Sunday.
So who’s laughing now?
Re: 4[sup]th[/sup] of July – I don’t mind you getting another day of vacation so much; just send me over some of the barbecue, OK? ::mouth waters::
If I’m abed beyond 6am, I’m probably sick. Thus is the curse of the morning person. Well, not exactly a curse - I like my quiet time before the day starts.
BBQ - I wish. Our grill hasn’t been fired up in almost 3 years - it’s probably all corroded and dead. Oh well…
HAPPY CANADA DAY LILI, MINDUDE AND ALL YOU OTHER CANADIAN COOL KIDS!!!
Haze you wonder how I’d look in a baby doll dress? You did do some heavy drinkin’ last night!
Snakes wouldn’t that market be uptown since it’s Columbus, Jawja? Or do they still carry on about uptown Columbus like they used to?
Up and caffienatin’ here. Soon I’ll go purtify for church and get ol’ y’all know who up for purtification. I might even make some breakfast as opposed to the usual here’s a bowl, some cereal and milk, knock yerself out.
