What movie have you seen the most times?

The Godfather
Dumb & Dumber
Nurse Betty

400+ for me, but I don’t know if that really counts as a movie, as such.

*King Kong *(1933)

Out of the Past (1947)

The Third Man (1949)

*Beat the Devil *(1954)

Forbidden Planet (1956)

Touch of Evil (1958)

Casino Royale (1967)

The Big Lebowski
Rushmore
The Godfather

All three of these would make my list, along with the full, directors cut LotR trilogy.
Aladdin. Just to watch Robin be the Genie.
Captain Hornblower.

The Big Lebowski.

Absolutely. The film itself is OK, but the commentary is fabulous.

Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory
Jurassic Park
The Birdcage
Sherlock Holmes (and Game of Shadows)
Harry Potter series
The Avengers
Various other MCU movies
Various Pixar movies
Fright Night (2011 version)
Star Wars
Raiders of the Lost Ark

American Graffiti

Charade
The Great Escape
Hard Day’s Night
Blues Brothers
Animal House
Caddyshack
Young Frankenstein
A Night at the Opera

Wow, remember when your only hope of seeing a movie after it left the theater was the slim chance it’d get shown chopped-up on TV (in B&W back in MY day… then came early color TVs, but they were mostly magenta and green, so, B&W).

But it was random luck that you’d pick up a TV Guide (a little book that had been mailed to your door) and exclaim “Hey, The Great Escape’s going to be on after Kukla, Fran and Ollie! Can we watch it, mom?”
The one exception I recall was The Wizard of Oz. Once a year like clockwork… anyone know why?

By the way, my record for full price in the theater was Butch Cassidy & The Sundance Kid. But only because I sucked at dating in high school. A bunch of us and our girlfriends couldn’t think of anything else to do on a Saturday night so we opened the newspaper and that was the only movie we could all agree on, so we’d go see it. Again.

(My girlfriend at the time married my best friend, and I often have lunch with them… one of these times, I should apologize for having been so uninventive…)

More good choices.

Lots of comedies:

Airplane
Caddyshack
Monty Python & Holy Grail
Life of Brian
Meaning of Life
Blues Brothers
Blazing Saddles
Young Frankenstein
Dr. Strangelove

Also, when my oldest grandson was a toddler I think I saw Monsters Inc about once a day for over a year.

I saw Aladdin 10+ times when I was a kid.

Wizard of Oz
A Christmas Story
Bringing Up Baby
Shawshank Redemption
Various Laurel & Hardy movies & shorts
Who’s Minding the Store
Mr. Hobbs Takes a Vacation
Scared Stiff
The Egg and I
Murder He Says
Mr. Blandings Builds His Dream House
Arsenic and Old Lace
Father Goose
Houseboat
Penny Serenade
The Ghost and Mr. Chicken
Looks like the newest movie is Shawshank Redemption for me. I haven’t come across a newer movie that’s worth watching more than once.

I lost count of how many times I’d seen the original Star Wars years ago – my count for it, and The Empire Strikes Back, is undoubtedly well over 100 each now. Return of the Jedi is a little lower, but it might be close to 100, as well.

A few other movies that I know I’ve seen at least 20 times:

  • The Lord of the Rings trilogy
  • The Blues Brothers
  • The Mummy (the Brendon Fraser version)
  • The Princess Bride
  • Monty Python and the Holy Grail
  • A Christmas Story

The first movie I took a date to was The Longest Day. Romantic.

Probably Wizard of Oz. When my nephew was just a little kid, he would watch that over and over when he was at the house (pretty often), but was afraid of the Wicked Witch, so my parents made me watch it with him.

I watch The Great Escape, Blazing Saddles, Kelly’s Hero’s, The Blues Brothers, Office Space and a few others whenever I happen across them. That’s a whole lotta time wasted, right there!

Dumb And Dumber
Blazing Saddles
History of the World Part I
Spaceballs
All the Star Wars films
Point Break
The Matrix
Gladiator

Off the top of my head:

Christmas Vacation
Ferris Bueller’s Day Off
Casablanca
Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back? (Not sure I have that title right)
Dogma
The Sound of Music

Some Like It Hot. My mother dragged me along with her to see this when it first came out (1959).* I was four years old, and got incredibly turned on watching Marilyn Monroe sing “I Wanna Be Loved by You.”

A year later, she did the same thing when ***Psycho ***came out. For years, the only thing I remembered about that movie was Janet Leigh parading around in her underwear. I didn’t find out what film I had seen until I caught it on television in 1984!

*She hated going to movies alone. When someone told her she shouldn’t be taking a little kid like me to see such fare, she said “Oh, he doesn’t know what he’s looking at.”

Believe me, I knew! :o
