What movie have you seen the most times?

In the theater…probably The Avengers, approaching ten times.

At home…almost certainly The Emperor’s New Groove, one of the funniest movies ever made.

The Princess Bride probably by an of order of magnitude over any other movie. I used to watch it everyday after school. I eventually learnt not only every line of dialogue, but I could hum the soundtrack in sync with the movie and could re-enact both sides of the duel between Inigo and Roberts. Without exaggeration, I must have seen the movie completely between 400 and 500 times, maybe even more. To learn the sword duel required a lot of rewinding over and over and over and so I’ve probably watched it thousands of times.

I saw Bambi in the theater twice. It used to be the only way to see it, and only once every few years for Disney classics. A friend in school from overseas was soon to return to his home country and his mother wanted him to see it before they left so I went with him to the theater. That’s it though, I understand some people consider going to the movie theater to be an experience in and of itself, I only go to see a movie before it’s available on TV.

I’ve seen a lot of movies but I 'll keep on getting back to movies like King Kong and Titanic.

Are you watching me now?

 Damn you Frank, that was my joke.

I’ve been waiting for someone to say Cheech and Chong so I could bust that one out.:smack::smiley:

In the theater? Jurassic Park. I watched it at least a dozen times when it was first released and then a few more times in the dollar theater.
On TV/streaming? Probably Jaws.

It’s not even close: when I was a kid I was OBSESSED with the movie Gremlins 2. I saw it three times in the theatre, and after my parents bought me the VHS at least five, maybe ten more times as a kid. And then a few more times since adulthood.

Second place… hm, that’s hard. Probably one of Evil Dead 2, Back to the Future, or Jurassic Park.

The Wizard of Oz because it was on TV once a year, every year that I can remember growing up.

Stalag 17 because it was on TV a lot, and I like it a lot.

An American In Paris because it was on TV a lot, and I love it.

It’s A Wonderful Life but not the whole movie at once. I finally did see the entire movie when I purchased the DVD. For years I didn’t see what was so great about the film because the very first part of it that I ever saw was the very last scene where everyone is piling money on the table. Without all that comes before it, that scene seems like a crass commercial interpretation of Christmas and friendship.

I have never seen any of the above in a theater. And I don’t think I’ve ever seen any movie in a theater more than once. But I would see Titanic again in a theater, because I was blown away by the whole second half of the movie (the ship-sinking part).

My memory of it is that Wizard of Oz was always shown during the Christmas Season. I assumed that the thinking was that it is a movie intended for children… and a fairy tale… So, although not really made to be a Christmas movie, it fit well into that time of year.

The movies that I have seen many, many times…

Groundhog Day
Joe vs The Volcano
Monty Python’s Quest For The Holy Grail

The TV show that I have watched the most, by far - Futurama.

(Why not Zoidberg?!?)

I think I will tonight. Bring Jackie Bissett.

Niw you’re talking. If I bring her, I won’t share.

But I’ll need a time machine to bring her back about 45 years. Got one?

The current edition will do. The stories she would be able to tell.

Flash Gordon - the one with the soundtrack by Queen.

The Breakfast Club…after that Tombstone …and then Bring it On

Casablanca

It’s a Wonderful Life

North By Northwest

Rocky Horror Picture Show by a country mile. Probably close to 200 times, most in the theatre. A distant second is A Knight’s Tale.

According to the Wikipedia article The Wizard of Oz on television, the movie aired in December each year from 1959 to 1962. In subsequent years, it aired in various other months until 2002, after which it kinda stabilized into a November, June/July, December schedule.

I’m a bit surprised that the movie is not on more lists in this thread, given the decades of annual TV broadcasts, along with the many VHS, Betamax, LaserDisc, DVD and Blu-ray releases. I’m guessing I’ve seen it about 10 times, which puts it at the top of my list of most-viewed movies.

How do you know how many times? Did you work in a movie theater for several years and you’ve done some quick math to approximate the count? Have you followed some kind of viewing schedule over the years? Perhaps you’ve compiled an extensive log of all your viewings.

For instance: I saw Spinal Tap 4 times on opening day. Saw it once the next day. I saw it twice the next week. Then I saw it at least 1x every weekend for the next year and 4 months or so until I went to college. That’s about 70 times right there. I rented the VHS tape and dubbed a copy, so then I was able to watch it pretty much whenever I wanted, but let’s say that was only 30 times. Now I’m up to 100 views, about. It was a later favorite of two of my girlfriends from my 20s, so let’s say that’s another dozen times each; now i’m up to 124 times. I bought the DVD with all the extra footage and stuff when it came out and watched that enough times to memorize the discarded footage, let’s call that 50 times. Another couple dozen times with random friends, backstage at gigs, on airplanes, while I followed along with my hardcover copy of the script, etc. Easily 200 times.

But prolly not 300.
